Difficulties sending messages

Hello
I'm a newbie and after some initial success I'm finding that I can no longer send messages. I've turned up some possible family members in other peoples' trees and tried to drop a line to the tree owner, the first one or two worked but now all I get is an error message. One of the successful messages generated an answer but now I cannot reply to him to thank him or take the discussion further.
I have to assume I'm doing something wrong but it's hard to imagine what: I'm logged in to a web page, filling in the "web form", and hitting send.
I've sent a problem report on the contact us page - no answer as yet.
Has anyone any ideas what might be the problem please?
Thanks
Keith

Do you want to test it and send a message to me?

(are you remembering to put in their name? - sorry if it's a daft question)

There are no daft questions, only daft answers
I'll send you a message and see what happens ...
Thanks!!
Keith
BTW we have red squirrels in the garden, haven't seen one in a purple hat yet tho' ...

Well, that worked. Or at least it appeared to. I hit the send message button in your message.

But when I go to my "messages centre" and try and send a message, I end up at this page:

http://mygenesreunited.co.uk/Messages.page/DiscoverMessage

The plot thickens ...

Try logging into:

and see if that works.

And this thread doesn't appear in the list of threads under General Chat. Fortunately it still shows under My Threads.
This all seems very hit and miss, very odd

That's a bit weird Keith...are you sure you weren't under genealogy chat (very similar names)?

KeithG

KeithG Report 7 Feb 2012 21:03

It's all very weird! I've just had a look under Genealogy Chat and its not there either. Where can you see it - if you can?

Anyway the first problem is now solved. Messages which contain the left and right facing pointed brackets (above the , and . on my keyboard) cause a message to fail, remove them and the message goes fine. That's something that should be in the FAQs I would have thought.

Many thanks for your help!!

Keith

Ah, this time it's my fault (well, I guess it's always my fault ;-)) My message had slipped way down the list under General Chat.

Right, now we can get on with what we were trying to do in the first place. Thanks once again for helping, it's very much appreciated!

As i PMd you earlier today..........you can find your threads in "My Threads"........or scroll down the board that you posted it on, until you find it. ;-)

Sometimes the boards move quickly and you will find that your thread is on the next page.
