A 15 year old boy is brutally tortured and murdered because his sister and uncle thought he was a witch. It's not the first time, either. Victoria Climbe in 2000 suffered the same awful fate. We can only guess at the numbers of children suffering from this ignorant stone age rubbish.

Wouldn't it be nice if, instead of proselytising about prayers in council meetings and bemoaning the demise of christianity, we heard the archbishop of canterbury and the pope condemning the practise and instructing their ministers and missionaries in africa to stamp out this nonsense. As you know, I am a total atheist, but anyone who is a churchgoer might like to canvas their churches in an attempt to put a stop to this. I might give the church a bit more respect if they actually came into the 21st century. Things like this are far more important than gay marriages, council meeting prayers and women bishops.

Blood pressure just gone up a few notches having read that one, RR. Once again, profiting from superstition and scaremongering amongst the vulnerable.

Mind, any con man from America can start up his or her own church, call themselves reverend or pastor or jumjum or whatever and get tax free status. What a screwed up world it is.

I watched the documentary about these so called 'witch children' and the part the Christian church plays in the continuing reinforcement that a person's bad luck can be attributed to any poor child who just happens to be slightly less able. Sometimes perfectly bright and able but these children have no voices.

There are agencies which attempt to rescue children who have been accused but it's a very closed subject.

Some of these ministries make fortunes from this abuse and I felt absolutely sick how any religion would choose to capitalise on sheer ignorance and fear.

A little bit of research throws up a horrific picture of absolutely ridiculous websites like the one run by this half wit. http://www.exorcisms.co.uk/

I'm generally not in favour of creating more legislation, but buffoons like this madman are dangerous and should be shut down. Trading Standards could easily shut this trade down, as they cannot provide any evidence that they are providing a real service. To let them continue is to fail to treat a festering sore - create more wet sacks if necessary.
