to a company.Just after 6am this morning i was woken up by a breakdown lorry picking up a van from the flats opposite me.He was parked outside my house with the lorry engine running and clunking all the chains .He left the street at 6.30am.Do you think it was necessary at this hour of the day? Probably woke most of the street up that sleep in the front.I did go out and have a go and he said he would turn the lorry off but did not

If I'd have broken down on my way to work at 6.30am or my car wouldn't start I'm guessing I would've called the AA and got the car moved to the nearest garage pronto. Don't think I would've waited until 8am or anything? x

You can always make a complaint but the deed is done.

Some of us are woken at 6am by refuse collection lorries.

Much as I wouldn't be very happy being disturbed at that hour it was a one-off. Vehicles break down 24 hours a day so looking at the situation objectively I guess it was acceptable to retrieve a broken down vehicle at any time of the day.
Over forty years ago a milkman used to sort out his bottles next to my house around six thirty every Sunday morning and I hadn't the energy in those days to get up .............and strangle him-jl

Life must go on, and people have jobs to do, Annie

it can be annoying, but its not feasible to go knocking on doors, apologising, (Unless you are a nextdoor neighbour, doing DIY or something?)

Bob

I DOES annoy me at times when MY neighbour is on nights, and the other neighbours' dogs are barking all day.............
no consideration, or just plain ignorance......of other people lifestyles

Being disturbed once in a blue moon isn't the end of the world is it?

If you did complain I think you might get short shrift TBH.

when I was at a factory in the middle eighties.....there was a lot of industrial unrest, and invariably a meeting would be call for the am, after a nightshift and to catch the dayshift coming on........now this would occur at 7 am.....on the firms sports field, with a lorry trailer as a rostrum and tannoy so all could hear, best part of 10,000 workers assembling

now THAT must ve been REALLY annoying.........for the locals....

I'll swap with you Annie if this was a one off and probably acceptable as it was picking up a broken down vehicle. Recovery vehicles can be in great demand. I once waited 5 hours for one before being sent home in a taxi (AA paid for it.)

I have a building site facing me and although they are not supposed to start until 8 am now with the lighter mornings its getting earlier and earlier with the site foreman coming on at 6.45 to get things going.

I have thought about complaining but maybe these days its best to just find a way of living with things.

The lorry is a one off although i dont think the van had broken down. The bloke had parked outside my house left the lorry running and went into the flats and drove the van out. Then we had the chains rattling after he drove it up onto the lorry.Apparently he upset a lot of people this morning. There were loads of kids woken up including babies.Hope he dont return it tomorrow morning lol

Sounds as if it could be a repossession job, if he drove the van out? Probably needed to do it that early before the resident set out for the day in the van.
