Now where I live we are abit rural, with all tht entails, including fetes and galas, garden parties, horticultural shows, duck racing, going over the rapids on of the river Derwent on a Boxing day,on a home made raft, etc., though it is some time since I saw an actual yokel, complete with straw hanging from the mouth. Just to paint you the picture.
On the local radio this morning, there was the Chairman of the Committee for one such of these shows, for this weekend. Well, we have had wall to wall rain here, for so long, I have about forgot what dry weather actually is. He was putting out a message that his forthcoming event at the weekend has had to be cancelled because of the soften fields where it has to be held.
His message was due to the fact that they could not erect the Beer Tent. Now this is serious business, in that particular village.
I imagined the front page headlines in next weeks edition of the local Hatched, Matched and Despatched, to be:-
Cancelled Due To
NON - ERECTION.

I thought it funny, but I live here, and know what local people are like.

Hmmmmmm. i can well imagine it all ,from the Derwent fishing lake behind the dam ,lol, this would be a serious matter to me as well ,fishing in the rain ,and no beer ,perish the thought , :-(.
No sign of stray last time i was there ,unless she was the one fishing with a cane and bent pin ,lol :-D
