If anyone is interested and is a member of Ancestry,
there are mugshots taken 120 years ago of prisoners
charged in Dorset with various offences.

Hi Ann -

I will have a look for your Riggs, I seem to remember that one of my Dashwoods married one of your Riggs :-D. Haven't found any of mine yet but it seems to be the other sides of the family that have turned up in prisons and on convict lists!

I can tell you something that made me laugh. when I first joined GR I kept getting PM s from people asking me if I was related to John Lee the man they kept trying to hang and failed..?

I researched to make sure . and replied NO I was nothing to do with him.although the family did come from Devon and John was a family name.and I had lost count of how many John Lee's we had in the family.

Three years ago my sister and I went on holiday to Torguay and we found a little museum going up the stair were famous murderers models behind bars. the first one we came to was this John Lee. made me shiver.

I am glad he was not one of mine.

I am certain of that. I delved into it deeply. the funny thing was one of the people who contacted me. the women he murdered was one of her ancestors.
