His death has just been announced at the age of 89.

I remember seeing him in a show at the Thorndike Theatre many years ago.

Probably better remembered for starring with Hattie Jacques and the Goon Show on Radio.

Thanks for the laughs Eric

ah yes just heard of this on BBC news very sad.

Eric was a very funny man and admired by other comedians. I loved his shows and also saw him onstage many years ago with Jimmy Edwards in 'Big Bad Mouse'....

RIP Eric

Very sad, all the old ones are leaving us. Still a good age, 89. A very funny man who overcame hearing problems to bring us much laughter. Always loved him with Hattie Jaques, an equally funny lady. RIP Eric

one of the all time greats and moreso because he was profoundly deaf - great laughs - remember him in "Those magnificent men in their flying machines" with Terry Thomas - hysterical

How sad, Eric Sykes was one of our comedy greats.

He always reminded me of my late father.

Will be sadly missed.

A truly lovely man.

In the last few weeks we have lost 2 of our Greats in Eric Sykes and Victor Spinetti.

He was pretty good on the old Washboard in skiffle groups as good as Deryk Guyler, and the film he made "The Plank" was brilliant. RIP Eric, thanks for the laughs.**M**

A fantastically talented man although I don't think he was in the Goon Show - just an occasional writer, a talent people forget - he wrote so much and was a master

Just imagine the get togethers in that other place, with all the talented people we have lost.

Eric, Rest in Peace, you brought laughter to so many people.
