The trouble is these days, many children shout and scream when playing, so it is hard to diferentiate what is right and what is wrong.
I remember some years ago, one, then little girl was forever doing it, and I remarked to my OH at the time that, one day, she will be in trouble, and no-one will take any notice of her.
In your situation Dizzi, dead-end, in a car, I think I would probably done the same. You can never be too careful.

It shows a genuine concern for a screaming child.

A couple of years ago I was driving along a busy road when I passed a small child walking along the pavement screming his head off.
I pulled up and tried to console him. He caught hold of my hand and was so distressed.

I was looking around wondering what to do next when a car pulled up, a woman got out of the passenger seat and snatched up the child without a word to me. The little one screamed even louder.

When I got home I couldn't stop thinking about, what if, what if. So to put my mind at rest I phoned the police. A lovely policeman arrived in minutes and took my info and assured me I had done the right thing. Thank goodness I didnt hear anymore.

Dizzi, reading all your posts, you do see life don't you lol

I think you did the right thing Dizzi

You would never have forgiven yourself if it something untoward going on and hadn't done anything to stop it. x

You did the right thing, we are naturally reticent about being seen as interfering but surely that is better than letting things pass us by and the outcome being something nasty.

Well Done You :-D

better to interfere than do nothing - if you're wrong, so be it, but better than standing on the sidelines looking on

well don you!!!

You definitely did the right thing, Dizzi-well done! Imagine how you would feel if you hadn't acted as you did,and found out later that the child had been murdered, or met with foul play?? You would never be able to forgive yourself! The world needs more concerned citizens who care, such as yourself. It's not being nosey,or interfering, just sensible.

I have experienced a funny side to this, with two incidents.

One day, many years ago, I was stood at the crossing in our town, when a young lad came running towards me with a man chasing. I questioned the man, asking him what he was doing. His answer was that he was the bank manager, and the lad was his son. Now this was in the days long ago, when bank managers did not seem humans (do they now), let alone have families.

Another incident was when I was looking after a country pub bar, and I asked a young person ' Young man, are your over eighteen' only to be told, ' I am a young lady, and I am over twenty three'. Boy did I feel foolish.

But, yes Dizzie you can never be too sure. Better for us to feel a little foolish, than wish we had.
