i am looking for grandfathers father my grandfathers name was John Lewis Spencer born 1892 in hull yorkshire was married to Elsie May Church in 1915 and died in the blitz on hull in 1942/43 can anyone help me please

John if you buy either your grandfather's birth or marriage cert it should have his father's name and occupation. You'll then be sure you have the right one when looking at the census'. :-D

He was actually born in Beverley if you look on FreeBMD.

A tree on Ancestry has his mother as Mary Hannah Spencer and she was unmarried when John was born.
