walked in and a very small boy ran into my legs, asked my friend who works at the store if he was alone "no hes with his sister" his sister is 7yrs old hes 2 and it was 8.45 and very dark, what the hell are the parents thinking? in the light of the abduction of little April Jones who"s family are from around here, how can these parents allow this and get away with it. dont they watch the news?dont they worry about child abduction,do they not worry about a 7yr old looking after a 2yr old at night and in the dark.

A frightening attitude to me but I am of a different generation. My children would not have been allowed out to play in the dark and the two year old would have been in bed. It was obviously not unusual as your friend knew them.

I walked along the road with a 3 year old on a dark night last winter and took him back to his flat. It was well after 8pm and he was very confident and chatty, but was so young it was difficult to have a conversation. Mother was not bothered he was out.

It is not that rare these days. I got flamed last time I mentioned this incident, so might have spoilt your thread Suzanne. :-( :-(

my friend lives in the same estate as this family, its not an unusual sight here, only last wk after visiting my daughter and 2yr old granddaughter,a little girl 3m older than my granddaughter ran out into the rd infront of my car, no adults anywhere, what are these people thinking? do the come from a different planet? my granddaughter is supervised even when shes in the garden(we have six ft walls and locked gates) shes never alone, shes only 2yrs old. :-( whats different between us?are we overprotective or are they taking chances,? :-(

kay.

its terrible but you cant just put a child in your car and take them home, you would get done for abduction yourself. :-(

Why weren't they at home in their cot and bed at that time of night, Suzanne.

Shudders :-|

I think they just believe their children are safe. I often see young children and dogs running around unsupervised. The children swear loudly and cheek any adult in the vicinity.

It may be there is a network of parents round the estate looking out for these children. But I doubt it. And it seems to me their parents are not responsible.

It is hard enough bringing up children anyway, and we worry constantly that we are not keeping them safe enough. But this just seems reckless.

Sorry but I'm thinking this should be reported to the social services and If someone knows where the children live the authorities should be informed.

Who knows what might happen to the vulnerable children!!.....and looking at the downside it will be no good being sorry afterwards ....just my opinion of course.

but you just couldnt report one,you would have to report several, lots f children between the ages of 6 and 10 around the village ,but ive never seen a child so young out so late at night,it was quite shocking to think my granddaughter was asleep in bed and this little boy was outside a shop with several under 10s so late at night, where are the police, and where are the parents
