Ah there you is

Hi Joy

A few minutes ago I was called downstairs to her indoors, she was shaking something terrible.
I checked her sugar level and it was down to 3.2 . So I gave her some lucozade, its now up to 7.1 (OK).
Going to check it again in a short while to see if its not gone low again.

What I was wondering is what do you do if the reading is too high, and, what constitutes being too high? :-S

if its to high they say exercise till it comes down
whats happened with your misses is she had a hypo

its sometimes not possible to exercise due to peoples health
so if it goes really high i would phone the NHS help line for advice

what i class as high is in the high teens or 20s
though eating crumpets can put mine in to the 30s for a short while
but everybody is different
SO MAYBE WORTH A CALL TO YOUR WIFES DIABETIC NURSE OR DOCTOR
for better advise

I just checked her again its reading 11. now . II`ll check he in another hour if its between the 7 and 11 mark I`ll stick her in bed and switch the telly and light off for the night.

She`s only just come back out of hospital after 6 days in there .
she`s got one of those Byetta pens, two injections, plus the 18 tablets to take per day as well.

Thanks Joy :-D

Just done final check for the night and the old gel feels just fine now .
Reading still on the 11. mark so I`m satisfied at that..

Here`s a laugh for you Joy. I was advised by a social worker to apply for Carers allowance, so I did.

The result was DWP say I am entitled to £58.45 a week. :-D
On the very next line it says ...
We cannot pay you this because the amount of your State Pension is more than the Carer`s Allowance.
(bit of a fruitless exercise that was). :-(

bleeding sods law innit
i would consult CAB there may be a way round it
i am sure you can still get a pension and attendance allowance
but they will tell you more :-D

Budgie Rustler Report 24 Oct 2012 22:52

Attendance Allowance and Carers Allowance are two separate things Joy. :-)

JoyBoroAngel Report 25 Oct 2012 08:34

yes Jminy ones for people on ESA (sick pay)under 65

and one for older people on pensions :-D

CAB will explain it to you as i dont know much about it

i do know on ESA the pay it
but deduct some of it from the ESA paid to the claimer
