My grandchildren (1 girl 2 boys) have been playing with their mum/aunts cabbage patch dolls since they were born :-D
I never bought them.

One year, many moons ago when I worked for them, for an April fools joke, the students at Sparsholt Agricultural College 'planted' a field with Cabbage Patch dolls.
They gave them away at the open day, and gave my children 3 each :-D

Cabbage Patch Ghouls were hugely successful one Christmas. The following year Tesco opened Beaumont Leys store in Leicester and the buyer flooded the non-food section with the blessed things.

And they did not sell at all. One of the new store team looked exactly like one, and we could often not find him at all if he was in the non-foods area.

Guessing it was 1984 that they were very popular and 1985 that they dive-bombed. There will be 10,000 of them in the warehouse of Beaumont Leys Tesco to this day, I feel sure :-D

Stray, the sight of hundreds of Cabbage Patch dolls carefully placed in a sitting position in lines was rather surreal :-D :-D

I've go no idea where the dolls came from or how the students got them, but the sight of hairy agricultural students up half the night 'doing the deed' must have been a sight to behold :-D
