I know that I am beginning to look more and more like my dear Mother, and recently have realised that I am now beginning to sound like her. My Mom had many “sayings” to suit all occasions, one of which was often used when something unexpected happened she would say “Well I did not see that coming”

Today my friend rang and after our general chit - chat she said “I have some gossip to tell you” after she had recounted the tale, I heard my self say....... “Well I did not see that coming”. I laughed and said “Oh Lord, did you just hear my Mother” and my friend said yes. The die has been cast.

Me too Paula. I look into the mirror and can see the likeness of my lovely Mother staring back and I also repeat the old sayings from my own childhood, but it is even more scary listening to my daughter admit to her hubby "Oh goodness, I am turning into my Mum!"

Scary isn't it ? My poor old Dad used to get so confused when he got older, one of Mum's old boyfriend's burst into tears when he saw me at her funeral and spent the entire afternoon calling me by her name. The only consolation is that by the time she was my age she was well into early onset altzheimers , and only had another five years to go. I think I put that wrong, but as far as I know I have still got all my marbles.

My sister takes after my Dad, though like Wend , she has a full head of hair, both eyes and no tach. (yet!), she didn't get his height either, we are both little short houses like our Mum, although I am proud to say I am the tallest !! M

People always say I'm like my Mum, and her brother, who is developing dementia, is convinced that I am her.
My Dad thinks I'm just like her, because since she died, I have taken over the nagging! :-D

When I was young I used to groan when people told me that I looked like my mother, now my daughters groan when people tell them they look like me. I know just how they feel and what they are thinking.

lolol

I must have said "I'm turning into my Mother" a thousand times in the last couple of years.

Not only do I look like her, I'm developing most of her health problems! Ah well, at least it gives the doc something to look for :-(

I've given up slapping myself over the mouth when I come out with "Mum sayings" - I'd have permanent bruises.

At least I don't match my clothespegs to the washing!!!!!

Loved her dearly, and miss her every day <3

I Have turned into my mum. My dad says if you turn into your mum that will be a good thing. He misses her so much. I also say the same things that my mum used to say, and now I sing the same songs to my grandchildren as she sang to us.
One of our favourites was Little Curly Head in a Highchair. Does anyone else have special memories of their mum singing to them.

THis is what makes family history so fascinating for me. You see traits and expressions coming down through generation after generation.

I am looking more and more like my paternal grandfather, who was no oil painting :-(

But two expressions I like of his.

1. When mum came down from Colwyn Bay to Wolverhampton and met him for first time, he said "well, thy's a bonny wench". Tickled my mum.
2. That b**ger Morrison. Conshie in First War and calls both my boys up for this one. :-D
