Teachers are the unsung heroes of education, often using humour to engage and enlighten their students. This collection of witty quotes reflects the lighter side of teaching, showcasing the humour that can be found in guiding young minds.

"As long as teachers give tests, there will always be prayer in schools." – Unknown

"A cross-eyed teacher can keep twice the number of children in order than any other, because the pupils do not know who she's looking at." - John R. Kemble

"By choosing to be a teacher, you have entered an emotionally dangerous profession." - Unknown

"Teachers are the only professionals who have to respond to bells every forty-five minutes and come out fighting." - Frank McCourt

"A gifted teacher is as rare as a gifted doctor and makes far less money." – Unknown

"When a teacher calls a boy by his entire name, it means trouble." - Mark Twain

"A policeman pulled me over and asked me for my papers. I gladly gave him all of my students’ essays to grade and drove off." - Heidi McDonald

"Confessions of a Tired Teacher: I was so tired that I stopped at a stop sign and waited for it to turn green." - Unknown

Good morning :-)

THE CHRISTIAN TEACHER

You light the path with truth each day,
In every word you choose to say.
You teach us more than math or art—
You shape the soul and guide the heart.

With patience, grace, and wisdom bright,
You help us walk in God’s great light.
For all you give, our thanks is true—
We see God’s love because of you.

Like Jesus fed His little sheep,
You sow the truth and plant it deep.
You tend young hearts with gentle care,
Through every lesson, every prayer.

You teach with hands that serve and bless,
With joy, with kindness, gentleness.
God sees the work that no one sees—
You serve His Kingdom faithfully.

Good morning :-)

Thank you Vera. I am happy to simply 'sow seeds' :-D

JUST A STUDENT

I am just a student,
I study to become wise
I look for the truth
with wonder in my eyes.

I pray every morning,
for the Holy Spirit’s leading
so He’ll open up my mind
to everything I’ll be reading.

I consider and I examine,
every Word and every line
I look for God’s promises
and claim them all as mine.

As I look up the meaning,
to the Words I highlight
I see my own darkness
while blessed in His light.

There’s something to be said,
when you study on your own
and one day to all my questions
I know God, will make known.

Thank you so much Cynthia for keeping the thread going and finding such interesting topics. You don’t always get a lot of response but I am sure there are plenty of others like me who do look in every day and take in what you have to say.

Good morning :-)

We pray for all those involved in education during the first week of a new term. May God guide and bless them in the days to come.

Acrostics always seem to attract people ....

S.C.H.O.O.L
Sitting in a classroom, learning every day,
Curiosity sparked in every single way.
Hours of reading, writing, and arithmetic,
Opportunities to grow, to find your unique 'shtick.'
Opening minds to new ideas,
Learning about the world, conquering fears.

L.E.A.R.N
Life’s journey begins with a single step,
Education is the key, a promise kept.
Always seeking knowledge, both old and new,
Reading, writing, discovering what’s true.
Never stop learning, keep your mind keen.

E.D.U.C.A.T.I.O.N
Everyday brings a new opportunity to learn,
Delving into subjects at every turn.
Understanding complex ideas with ease,
Cultivating a mind that aims to please.
Acquiring skills to last a lifetime,
Teaching us to solve problems, to climb.
Inspiring growth and personal development,
Opening doors, offering enriching content.
Nurturing a love for learning, an enduring passion.

Good morning :-)

This week, children and teachers throughout the country are returning to school after the summer holidays. Some will be excited, and some will be very nervous. Parents will have mixed emotions. We ask God’s blessing on them all.

Dear Lord, as our students begin a new school year, we pray that you will keep them in your care. Send your Spirit to open their minds to all that is true, and beautiful, and good.

Help them to see the gifts and talents you have given them and to use them well. Help them to grow in knowledge and wisdom. Help them to be kind to others and lead others to be kind to them.

Dear Heavenly Father, as a new school year begins, we lift our teachers to You. Grant them the wisdom to guide their students and the patience to nurture their minds and hearts. May they inspire a love for learning and create a positive environment in their classrooms. In Jesus' name. Amen.

The Collect (special prayer for today)

O God, you declare your almighty power
most chiefly in showing mercy and pity:
mercifully grant to us such a measure of your grace,
that we, running the way of your commandments,
may receive your gracious promises,
and be made partakers of your heavenly treasure;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen

Today, the Gospel tells of Jesus eating with a Pharisee on a Sabbath.

When a young minister was still single, he preached a sermon he entitled, "Rules for Raising Children." After he got married and had children of his own, he changed the title of the sermon to "Suggestions for Raising Children." When his children got to be teenagers, he stopped preaching on that subject altogether.

The silly/sensible season. Today - sensible.

On Sunday, we sang that old yet still popular hymn ‘Amazing Grace’. This hymn conveys the message that anyone can find forgiveness and redemption, regardless of past mistakes, and that God’s mercy can rescue the soul from despair. This text was written by John Newton for a New Year’s Day sermon in 1773.

1 Amazing grace (how sweet the sound)
that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
was blind, but now I see.

2 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears relieved;
how precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed!

3 Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come:
'tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home.

4 The Lord has promised good to me,
his word my hope secures;
he will my shield and portion be
as long as life endures.

5 Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
and mortal life shall cease:
I shall possess, within the veil,
a life of joy and peace.

6 The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
the sun forbear to shine;
but God, who called me here below,
will be forever mine.

The silly season - silly/sensible. Today, silly.

Just like God
My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, "Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?"
I mentally polished my halo while I asked, "No, how are we alike?"
"You're both old," he replied.

During her sermon on Jesus’s teaching that we should love our enemies, the vicar asked the congregation to raise their hands if they had enemies. Everyone did so except for Mrs. Watson in the front row, who had just turned 95.

“Mrs. Watson,” the vicar asked, “how could you live for 95 years and have no enemies?”

“That’s easy,” the senior citizen replied, “I just outlived them!”

Good morning :-)

We are about to enter the annual ‘silly season’, when newspapers have little to report apart from a mixture of both sensible and funny stories. We can follow suit!

Today……..sensible!

Yesterday, we heard how the disciples were squabbling between themselves. We were also reminded that following Jesus is the only pathway to heaven. He is simply amazing.

One Solitary Life

He was born in an obscure village. He worked in a carpenter shop until he was thirty.
He then became an itinerant preacher. He never held office.
He never had a family or owned a house.
He didn't go to college.
He had no credentials but himself.
He was only thirty-three when the public turned against him. Nineteen centuries have come and gone, and today he is the central figure of the human race.
All the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, and all the kings that ever reigned have not affected the life of man on this earth as much as that
One Solitary Life

Collect (special prayer) for today:
Let your merciful ears, O Lord,
be open to the prayers of your humble servants;
and that they may obtain their petitions
make them to ask such things as shall please you;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen

Today, we hear about how the disciples squabbled about who would be the greatest – until Jesus put them right!

Heavenly Father, lend us strength to always put You first above all earthly things.

During times when we are easily distracted, remind us of the solid ground found in Your word and will. Ignite in our hearts an earnest desire and steady dedication to honour You in all that we do. In every decision, let Your wisdom be our guiding light, providing hope when outlooks seem dim. Thank You for allowing us this opportunity to embrace Your grace and uphold our commitment to place You at the forefront of our lives. Amen.

To put family first, we need to put God first...........

“When it comes to our everyday habits, it's important to ask: 'Am I putting God first?'

Joyce Meyer - Christian author

“Put God first in everything you do ... Everything that I have is by the grace of God, understand that. It's a gift ... I didn't always stick with Him, but He stuck with me.”

To put family first, we need to put God first in our lives.

It may be helpful to consider the following practical steps:

• Begin and end our day with prayer, seeking God's guidance and sharing our thoughts.

• Spend some time reading our bible.

• Go to church as often as we can.

• Think of God when making decisions, no matter how small.

• Serve others.

These few steps can help us to build a closer relationship with God and help to put him first in our lives.

To put family first, we need to put God first……

I’m seeking to put God first,
He comes before all else.
I will be looking unto Him
not to my wretched self.

I’ll be seeking out His kingdom,
for my daily bread
focusing on the destination
of the glory that's ahead.

I’m seeking in my Bible,
what He has for me today
I’m asking Him to show me
His true and righteous way.

I’m going to discover,
the path He has for me,
and I’m going to attempt it
with all my energy.

I’m going to seek God first
with all my heart and soul
I'm going to truly make Him
life’s one and only goal.

I’m going to put God first,
He comes before all else
no one will come between us
not even my old wretched self!

To put family first, we need to put God first...............

Enjoy, you may be singing this for the rest of the day! :-D

https://youtu.be/ke1GjSvs12c

Seek ye first the kingdom of God
And His righteousness;
And all these things shall be added unto you.
Hallelu, Hallelujah!

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelu, hallelujah!

Ask, and it shall be given unto you;
Seek, and you shall find.
Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
Hallelu, Hallelujah!

Man shall not live by bread alone,
But by every word
That proceeds out from the mouth of God.
Hallelu, Hallelujah!

A statement heard many times….’Family comes first’.

Life is full of choices.
Every day, people decide what matters most to them.
For some, it’s family.
For others, it’s success, money, or personal happiness.
But what does the Bible say should come first in our lives?
Over and over again, Scripture calls believers to put God above everything else.
It teaches that when God is first, everything else falls into place.
When He is not, life becomes a struggle filled with anxiety, disappointment, and misplaced priorities.

To put family first, we have to put God first.

in love and joy and peace;
