Cor Jude & Jane....That stirred a few memories, I had forgotten the bottled orange juice from when I was back home as a child - on a Saturday as a treat I would get a bottle of Mickey (not sure of the spelling) a chocolate drink to have in bed with my comics :-D |

Hi Jude ..we have had milk delivered here since we moved in in 1991.I know it is cheaper to buy elsewhere ,but it's nice to support a local service.Through all weathers ,it has always arrived .OK maybe the tops have popped in freezing weather ,and in one case the bottles shattered as the milk had frozen solid. But it is great to have it delivered. We also have the Orange Juice :-D. |

We're lucky that we have always had a delivery, even though it has been cut from 6 days a week to 3. |

We started having deliveries a few years back to help keep the men in work but the price went up so much it became ridiculous so after having one or two blips, non deliveries and such, we cancelled. So much easier buying one big carton and we like the Cravendale too so can have that again now. We didn't buy much else from the chap. He was a nuisance too, came very early in the morning but would stay and rearrange his van under our bedroom window, others complained about the noise too as he would move crates around and keep slamming the door on his little fridge thingy, he was usually there for over five minutes and when you are in a nice sleep with the windows open in summer, the last thing you want is bottles clanking etc to disturb you. |

For years we always had our milk delivered, chap was reliable (whatever the weather) and almost like one of the family :-) he brought eggs & cream too.But when he retired a couple of years ago, new owner who took over his business wanted to deliver 'when he felt like it' and wasn't so reliable :-| ..soo unfortunately we don't have doorstep milk now :-( |

Ah, fresh bottled milk on the doorstep ..... if I remember, birds loved it, always made such pretty shaped holes in the foil tops - and sometimes left a 'thank you' message running down the side.....and then there was thawing it out during the cold, cold winters, or digging it out with a spoon so you could mix the porridge in time or be late for school...... |
