They probably were looking at the Regimental Diaries, as we know that most of the service personnel records were lost in WW2. Around 75% were destroyed. |

I also watched the program last night and wondered about finding information from WWI. My uncle wrote a one line diary but I couldn't read where he went to in France. On the 26th Feb 1917 he went to Boulogne and by March 8th 1917 he was in hospital. He has made two entries on February 27th and February 28th but I cannot read the location. I know he was in the 2/5 Sherwood Forresters. |

You could try 'Roots Chat as. I found both this site really helpful when researching my grandfather's time in WW1, and my father and stepfather's time in WW2. I found that there were a a lot of kind people who would look up relavant information, and usually managed to run to earth what I was looking for. Good luck in your research. |
