My dad was lucky he had a bad accident down the pit in the early 60's he was a ripper at the time and was buried when the lot came down on him, He survived but had several broken bones and broke his back in two places he was off work for i think abt 18 months |

OFTG, The trade unions did it to themselves they didnt need any help from Margaret Thatcher, Just about all my ex mining mates still slag her off but offered the chance to go back down the pit all bare none would accept that offer, Just the same as miners in the past have not wanted their son's to work down the pit. |

Porkie_Pie, I also come from a long line of miners, and many who I knew said that the Miners Strike played into the hands of Margaret Thatcher who deliberately allowed the strike to drag on as she wanted to use it to crush the Trade Unions. |

No, I think, police, military and even Firemen should not have a right to strike. Work to rule yes but anything that puts lives at risk should be curbed. |

Maybe we should be asking an ex Miner,Steel Worker, Car worker or Ship Builder even ex Textile Workers etc,etc,They may know just how much striking has done for them in the last 30 yrs. :-( |
