Bloody hell, it's getting worse :-( I wish I hadn't looked now cos I am really peeved.

I only went onto the site to see what the rate was for a second child! Daughter and hubby pay £42 per half day for child care and baby number two is due in May and I was looking at tax allowances for that.

I am now officially 'disgusted in Wales'

A couple next to me were bragging that their son gets all the benefits paid from the UK, even though the children were born abroad, but also get benefits from the country their daughter in law is from! No wonder the can afford to keep "jetting in" three times a year!

It's not just child benefit going out of the country

They can also get Child tax credits for children living in other parts of Europe

Bleddy annoys me how much money is going out of this country with child benefit.

Couple of blokes in Leeds were found to be claiming CB, 1st was claming for 11 children back home.
2nd was claiming for 9 children back home and it found when they were pulled in by the Border Control at a certain factory.when they were taken in for questioning it was found they didn't have any children but the money was found in bank accounts in other names in their home country.

I didn't know about this until today :-(

Stopping this would be a quick fix towards tackling child poverty in the UK if that allowance was targetted correctly at home.

I feel irritated now :-| and somewhat depressed :-(

It's been happening for over 10 years now, I worked for a company who evernight got rid of more than 300 local workers "agency" on friday,
Then new "agency" started on monday all 300 replacements where economic migrants and at least 50% had children back home and where in reciept of Child benefit,

A bit of a disparity isn't it?

supercrutch Report 3 Apr 2013 19:04

So if you live in a EU country where no child benefit is payable, come to the UK to work without your child/ren you can claim child benefit?

Not sure where you got the info from but I think that what it is saying is that if you are a European Economic Area Citizen then you have a right to certain benefits such as child benefit - just like UK citizens would have the same rights if living in Europe

apologies if this has been posted. Something seems to be wrong here, just my opinion of course but the last part of this qualifying statement baffles me!

Taken from the UK Gov website:

If you've come to the UK but your child has stayed behind

There are different arrangements for Child Benefit depending on whether you are working and if you're a national of a European Economic Area (EEA) country or not. Whatever your situation, you won't qualify unless you're responsible for your child.

If you have come to the UK and you're a national of a country outside the EEA or Switzerland, you may qualify for Child Benefit once your child actually arrives in the UK.

If however you are a national of an EEA country or Switzerland, you can usually get Child Benefit even if your child doesn't come to the UK. But your child will need to be living in an EEA country or Switzerland.
