For once, most of the problem is not on General Chat!!!

Maybe this will give an idea of the potential scope ................... from a posting on that thread on Genealogy Chat referred to by RR ............

"At this moment there is a thread on this board where the OP's post and 9 other posts from an additional 4 members have been referred for review:"

That thread was deleted by GR less than 10 minutes later, having been under review for almost 2 days ......................

reason given ....................

1) It is not family history related- the thread should have been posted on General Chat.
2) It's title could possible provoke arguments and upset on the boards. The subject is related to previous request review decisions made by us.

How do I know???

I was one of the other 4 members who had posts RR'd, and I got the email earlier today notifying me of what had happened to the thread

no notification as to whether the RR of my post was valid or not.

Incidentally, I note that Natasha has posted the Community thread Meeting Board Use as a sticky on most (if not all) Boards.

I think it will all come down to consistency in dealing with reports, though that is obviously difficult when GR staff can only see part of the bigger picture.

Natasha has been asked if this can be posted on all boards,

Hopefully It will pass. There are no signs of it now.
If you've missed it, Guinevere, it might be better to leave it 'missing'. Actually, it would be difficult now to pick it up and understand what has been happening as so much has been cut.

I'm not renewing in a few days time for the very reasons stated. Questions put by people and answered truthfully as they see it, are regularly being leapt on as being insulting/ abusive and immediately RR'd - it's just so stupid, obviously no one should make personal comments about others, but if asked if something worked well for you in the past, and to answer that it didn't for whatever (impersonal) reason, promptly to be RR'd is just plain daft! what are you supposed to say? all was perfect when, as you see it, it wasn't! completely pathetic!!! So, I simply can't be bothered with it anymore-either run with the herd or be banned!! yawn yawn!!

This is just another in a long line of "difficult times". It will pass it always does.

The current difficulties are as nothing compared to those of years gone by.

And I have no idea what has prompted this - what have I missed?

Maybe its time for GR to get back to what it started out as. Stop the chat all together if people cant play nicely.

Do away with the chat boards completely.

Once upon a time, in a Galaxy far far away, there lived some warm, helpful members who enjoyed a bit of banter and 'insults' with their friends - along with very good advice and valuable information given to posters.

Then - the moaners, groaners, took offence and anything-ers began RRing and demanding that
anything /anyone they did not agree with was/were banned.
There was a massive exodus - and this site is a lot poorer.

Please, I've just renewed and would like a year without a load of ----

The criticisms of grammar and spelling need to be put to bed.

We live in a world of instant texts and tweets and this chat board is no different. Would we correct every text or tweet we received? There is a place on here for good language skills ie poetry thread, have you read a good book lately.

Otherwise let it flow. And don't get all worked up if you read a post the wrong way. Am sure we all try our best in our (young) old age :-) :-)

I think we all have to be careful what we say! as the slightest adverse view can be misinterpeted and turned into a 'big deal'!!!

Isn't it a shame that the Ethos of Genes is now lost.
How can anyone help anyone else if one can no longer help anyone else by making a simple statement?
How can anyone help anyone else if you cannot quote (misspelt or not) and presumably C & P?
How can anyone help anyone else if you can't have a conversation with opposing opinions?
