As DET says they don't tell you that these are not the true temperatures but are temperatures taken in SHADE. They are air temperatures.

So the actual temperatures in the sun are much higher.

So be very very wary especially children and oldies.

Well at 9:0 this morning it was 75 degrees outside here in Scotland (and 73 in the lounge) I don't mind the sunshine it's the humidity that's too much.
Take care everyone, keep using the sunscreen. :-D

The temperatures quoted are *Shade* temperatures. it will be a lot hotter when you step into the sunshine.!

I quite like the heat and you do become acclimatised. Its the humidity that's draining.

Encourage the vunerable to drink extra fluids - so many older people stop drinking in the early evening for fear of having to get up at night. Much better a damp bed than dehydration. :-0

Stock-up on ice-cream now before supplies melt in the shops. Worry about your diet next week!

Son is hosting a family barbeque at his house for his nephew ( my grandson's) 18th
He volunteered his house as it had more room if we all had to stay inside because of rain!
Might be glad of a shady spot indoors, so space will still be useful.

Glad I'm not cooking!

Press Association – 1 hour 56 minutes ago

Beaches across Britain have been packed with sun-worshippers over the past few days as the country enjoys hot weather

.....This weekend will bring the hottest day of the year so far, with temperatures set to reach a sizzling 31C (87.8F) on Saturday, weather experts have predicted.

The mercury will begin to creep up to the high-20s on Friday before spiking at the burning record tomorrow.

The continued hot spell shows no sign of ending as temperatures settle around the mid-20s well into next week.

The Met Office has issued a Heat Health Alert, warning of the likelihood of heatwave conditions.

"Heatwaves can be dangerous, especially for the very young, very old or those with chronic diseases," the alert said.

The NHS Choices website warns that temperatures around 30C (86F) can have a significant effect on people's health if they last for at least two days and the night in between.

Tom Tobler, a forecaster with MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said Saturday's weather is very likely to beat the current record of 29.7C reached in Bournemouth on Sunday.

"It's certainly going to be a very hot weekend with lots of sunshine.

"Temperatures are predicted to reach at least 31C on Saturday, which will make it the hottest day of the year so far. Temperatures will drop a few degrees on Sunday into next week but we can't see any sign of the hot weather changing over the next week.
