UzziAndHerDogs Report 2 Aug 2013 17:46

My 14yr old niece arrived out here on Tuesday ..now I haven´t seen her for over 9yrs and her Uncle did get to see her when he went back for his Mums birthday in May this year.
Now D´niece (as opposed to d´neptune) is an anything when asked what she whats to do (apparently until she gets to know you only). Yesterday I offered my snorkeling mask and fins if she would like to take them on the Mar Menor. So we chatted about that and I discovered that she would love to Scuba dive. leave it with me I told her as we know somebody who dives.
Today we have arranged for a 3/4 day course for her to get her PADI "open water dive certificate"
Bless her she hasn´t fully realised that at the end of it she will be able to dive anywhere in the world without a qualified dive instructor or that she can dive just as a dive buddy.
Mind I will say she has had the last 9yrs of birthday pressies and for her 16th I will pay for her to take one other dive. other than that she is on her own.

The joy of watching her face when she realised that we were actually booking the course today not just asking about it was class <3 :-D
14 she maybe but she still has that great grin.

See who needs kids just borrow other peoples ......and then give them back once you have set them on an expensive hobby :-S

not kind Joy just found something she is interested in and can help
Her face was a picture and that will stay better then any snapshop.
and yes she will always remember aunt Uzzi allowed her to dive but that isn´t the reason I have done this

A. Really lovely and unusual gift, and one she will be able to continue with for many years.

Hope she enjoys learning. Our third Grandson learned during several holidays in Lanzarote, he then progressed as he got older and holds all the certificates.

Bet you got as much pleasure arranging this as she did receiving the gift Uzzi, as you say, something that will last her a lifetime. Hope she has a great time learning. She will never forget this holiday for sure.

My son did a first lesson when we went to Malta together in 2007, he would like to learn more but can't afford it at the mo. I always made sure he could swim well from an early age. Now me, I can't even swim.....

In my next life, I will learn.

Enjoy your niece's company Uzzi, fill her head with anything you want and then give her back, naughty naughty!
