Packing up the fags

well it was an idea
so was losing weight
I have lost 9k and increased my ciggie habit by a pack a week.

My decision is which will harm me first ---

Then you have to ask which I will feel better for

So losing weight it is after all people will sponsor what they can see and I can (maybe) curb the nicotine habit eventually

I'd rather be overweight and smell nice. tbh.

You can always lose a bit of weight but you can't turn back the clock on smoking damage. :-)

Hi UzzinSunshine

Well done for losing all that weight and it shows you have a huge amount of willpower.
I am trying to cut down on my fags and I am counting how many I have each day. I just try to cut down by 1 a day. I write the amount down so that I am aware of it. Sometimes it doesn't work, especially when I am stressed but then I tell myself I can do better.

The thing that irritates me the most is that if I am poorly the docs blame it on smoking. I could have an ingrowing toenail and he will say it's the fags lol

Good luck :-D

and before any one says try this ,Yes I have tried everything to pack up the evil little cancer sticks up (as my Dad called them) and believe me if anybody could have made me pack it in, it was my Dad (and he nearly succeeded). But not quite because I still smoke 20 a day (on a bad day) 10 or less on a good one -

Sorry then for my post.. Personally I don't want to pack it in as I enjoy it. Just tone them down a bit

My doctor has been nagging me for years to cut down my smoking, I was a 60 a day man, at the beginning of June this year I decided to give e-cigarettes a try and I have now got my ordinary ciggies down to 5 a day.

At the beginning of June my blood pressure was, according to my doctor, at an acceptable level, saw my doctor yesterday and he took my blood pressure and it was very high so he checked it, not just once but three times, each time it was, as he put it, very high. The only thing I have changed in my normal routine is my smoking :-S :-S

There's only one way to stop smoking and that is to not smoke.

Seriously. When you really WANT to stop, you will. It's no good mithering on about how difficult it is. The hardest bit is getting to the frame of mind to just stop.

Sorry if that seems harsh.

OH gave up about 4 months ago because he was being bothered with catarrh.
He says it´s really easy......just don´t buy them.
Sorry mate, it doesn´t work.
I´m still on 20 a day & no sign of giving up.

I think I could give up smoking just like that if I wanted to...but if I didn't smoke I would get no exercise as I need to go sort of outside to have one. (kitchen diner window)

I was probably smoking 40 a day 4 years ago now it is more like 10 -15....giving up drinking was easy as well I must have drunk a couple of bottles of vodka at least a week for years.....decided last August, that was it ...not touched a drop since. I was hoping not drinking would make me lose a bit of weight but not noticed any change :-(

There´s also the exercise you get walking to the shop & back to buy them.
I could give up alcohol tomorrow. Don´t like the stuff & onlydrink half a glass of wine per day with my dinner & not always that,
Fags are a different matter. :-D

Oh has stopped smoking.

I wouldn't recommend the way he did it!

Pneumonia & pluerisy! He was in hospital for a week.

He's been a "non-smoker" for about three weeks, and now says ciggies STINK!

:-)

Scozz, there is nothing worse than an ex smoker. My OH gave up in 1994 and now can smell a smoker when they walk past him on the bus. (As can I but I have always, barring a few as a teenager) been a non smoker. Certainly never took the smoke into my lungs.

My SIL gave up smoking the hard way . She was ill and not knowing why went to the docs several times and was given antibiotics that didnt help Eventually her doc decided to send her for Xrays and they came back with an abnormality on her chest but by that time she was having problems breathing too.

She was admitted to her local hospital for tests and then transferred to Harefield Hospital as the local hospital couldn't diagnose the problem .

Turned out that she had a abscess in her chest cavity that was getting so large it was pushing her against both lungs. She was treated with drains and high dosages of antibiotics . was in Harefield hospital for 2 months till they transferred her back to local hospital and then was discharged

Was a very lucky girl . But with all that went on she wasnt able /or wanted to smoke so got over the withdrawal period.

She still doesnt smoke but says sometimes still she gets the urge to have a fag !!
