My PC virus software notifies me of any suspicious content and I constantly get warnings that my intrusion guard has blocked content from GR

It lists the content under the category of "Malware"

They are from (b3.mookie.com) and (fw.adsafeprotected.com)

It also detects (m.bestormedia.com) but doesn't ID what site it came from and if I try to google the site addy m.bestormedia.com my antivirus doesn't let me

My question is are these just tracking cookies that my anti virus doesn't like

I use Norman security suit and the currant version is 10.1

I'll taker a proper look shortly but I would say that it is picking up danger signs from the advertising.
Block the advertising and you should not have a problem.

Taking firefox as an example ( the other browsers do the same things in different menus ).

Tools | Options

Tracking - select "Tell sites I do not want to be tracked"

Tools | Options | Privacy
Custom History
Accept third party cookies : Never

"Norman" looks nice but is not very good at protecting from malware.
Microsoft's own (free) Security Essentials is much better even if the user interface is dull.


Install AdBlock Plus ( free ) also available for IE & Chrome

I would think that if Roy has paid for his anti virus software he would probably want to continue using it until the licence expires - "Norman" may not be your favourite and it is not mine either but it does actually do quite a good job.

Roy - bear in mind that it is not advisable to run more than one anti virus programme at the same time.

I switch between Avast & AVG..............both free (for home)

Unfortunately there has been an epidemic of poorly written security suites charging good money for poor performance and worse - Ad Aware free comes with built in malware. Others as you have said are much worse than poor Norman.

The sad fact is that the longer you use a crap product the longer you will be exposed to the joys of malware and an epidemic of popups, redirected urls, invitations to web sites Brave Dave wouldn't like, slow performance, frozen machines demanding money to restart, membership of BotNets and so on and on.

There are only a handful of programs that do this job properly and Norman is well short.

You pays yer money and yer takes yer choice. Don't be taken in by a smart paint job.

Just remember the well paid lawyers with huge budgets when making statements lol

I'm of the belief that anti virus companies have 'people' creating viruses!

Just as I believe that mobile phone companies have 'people' writing jokes

I have been using Norman (not exactly a cheap product) for the last 10 years on several PC's and never had a problem, I still don't have a problem as I said my Norman picked it up and blocked it so good at protecting from this particular malware,

I wonder how many GR users using other antivirus programs have detected them?

OH and several of my friends have used all the so called good antivirus programs and always ends up with a problem that I end up having to resolve so I will stick with Norman.

Exactly Roy - it is doing its job.

And yes, they are connected to the adverts.

Errol, I first used it in 2003 when i got a Fujitsu PC It came with 1 years free Norman and just liked it, Before that I used lavasoft Ad Aware as recommended by a friend who was a computer engineer but never got on with it.

If you use Chrome you'll get cookies & ads........... I can't explain it because I'm not a techy........ guru said the bugs come in via the side door.
