Can We All Have A Share Of Their Austerity

OneFootInTheGrave Report 29 Sep 2013 08:38

The Tories have hired G4S to guard what really matters most to them at this week’s conference – the champagne.

Workers from the blundering security firm were seen yesterday helping shepherd cases of bubbly into the five-star hotel as banners were being unfurled bearing the party slogan: “For hardworking people”.

The £45-a-bottle Ruinart Blanc de Blancs will be downed along with posh Sancerre wine over the next four days as David Cameron and his ministers lecture the rest of us on the need for austerity.

They should get by with Piper-Heidsieck and Pouilly-Fumé like everybody else in these austere times. We do.

Or Blue Nun and Vimto.

I'd serve them with a chilled Lambrini & arsenic cocktail

'We're all in it together'.......some more than others!

So what was served at the LibDem and Labour conferences? They're all trying to butter up their sponsors. There are Fat Cats associated with all Parties

JustJohn Report 29 Sep 2013 11:19

Labour would have been Leibfraumilch Blue Nun and Lib Dem would have been home made Elderflower wine, DET.

And UKIP? German hock and Bulgarian Rosso would be my guess :-) ;-)

I will vote for party that serves up Brecon Carreg. :-)

aha ! John of Madeley gets the link between Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé.
Obviously a cultured man.

I did not notice the ranks of brewer's drays delivering beer to the Labour conference nor Labour MP's munching on beer and sandwiches or pasties. Maybe that is because they were all in Drake's.

As cultured as a pearl, Rollo :-D

I expect Labour needed services of G4S as well. Brighton has a high crime rate, and Liebfraumilch is very popular. Wish Ed had imbibed more - might have made his speeches a bit more lively. He could have said what he really thought about Ed Balls and Harriet Harman ;-) And the Education Minister in the Welsh Labour Government who he could not even remember the name of.

Wales is the only place in UK where Labour are in power, and dreamy Ed has little idea who the power brokers are in Wales.

Am I the only who is getting fed up with the continuing reference to "hardworking families"? I am beginning think everyone belonging to the government is under orders to use this phrase whatever they are talking about.

And what about those of us who used to be hardworking but are now reaping the benefits (?) of that work in our retirement? Do we not deserve a mention?

Yes, all good mischievous fun, but as stated above Brighton is not always the place to be (Norman Tebbitt bombing)

Manchester could be another one hence the real reason for the security
