DIZZI - I hated shopping in a wheelchair, find it a bit easier on my mobility scooter, well that is once I learned not to knock over the displays.

Are there not any mobility shops where you are that hire out mobility scooters, over here in Orpington we have - Orpington Shopmobility, a scheme registered with the National Federation of Shopmobility.

In Orpington it is operated by VTB Mobility, you pay a yearly membership of £35, so maybe worth checking out this link to see if there in a provider in your area.

Gwen, have you a befriending service in your area where someone who has been vetted (to see if they are mad oops I mean sensible enough to accompany you etc) A friend of mine did it for a year and helped a disabled chap get out in his wheelchair, he only has a Fiesta but got the chap and wchair in and they went to the theatre and on outings.

Hope you can sort something out, I can understand how annoying o.h. must be when he votoes things you like, my o.h. is like that hence I prefer to shop alone and I am lucky enough to be able to do so.

Take care and chin up love

Me too Dizz - I just wish you lived nearer, so I could take you shopping.

Edit to add - We take 2 members of the family with wheelchairs in our car regularly, so I know I could do it :-D

Dizzi
It sounds as if you are on a right downer. I can sympathise with you as I am now going to have to have a wheelchair to go out and about in. I also learnt last week that I am going deaf and will have to have hearing aids fitted - Oh what joy! What with 30 plus years of RA and a cataract forming I know just how must be feeling. But don't let it get you down - life is good sometimes
Lots of hugs for you
