If you are, say 60 now, would you rather be that age today, or the same age fifty or more years ago.?

Any reasons would be interesting.

My maternal grandmother died when she was 62, a year younger than I am now.

I remember her as an OLD lady.

Any photographs I have of her are very small, so I can't really see her face, but back then older ladies wore very dowdy clothes & hats & "sensible" shoes! I wonder what my granny would think if she could see me in jeans........ or sarongs!!

Opportunities for our grandmothers were limited.... get married, or be an "old maid".

I don't think my grandmother worked before she was married........ she was "at home". I believe my grandparents met when he was 19 & she was 15, they married in 1920, when he was 25 & she was 21. A bit of trivia... they shared a birthday & married on their birthdays.

50 years ago was the time to be young!

Postwar recovery more or less complete and society changing at a very rapid pace. Technology making things happen and worldwide travel beginning to open up.

I'm ignoring things like the Cuban missile crisis and Vietnam war etc. - too young to remember them properly.

Harry - that is a difficult one for me to answer.

I am 70 and from a health and well being point of view my answer would definitely be today, lets face it 50 or more years ago I doubt if I would have reached the age of 60 with the health problems I have had.

However, from a social and way of life life point of view my answer would definitely be 50 years ago, back then families and communities were far closer than they are today.

Healthwise, better to be 60 now I say.

When I look at photos of my grandmother at my age she looks old enough to be my grandma now :-0

We wonder what sort of world our youngsters will have to face but I believe every generation deals with whatever is their lot.
My grandma wondered what the world and young people were coming to 50 years ago but hey, we're all still here and doing ok.

I think us baby boomers have had the best of everything....and yes, *touch wood*,ticking along nicely at 67 !

Hope you are okay.

I like my age now.

I would have liked so much for many of my loved ones to see the events I did.

I think of the people I grew with and some did not reach my age.


I feel though now, with the latest technology people have lost their bearing
on what really matters.

What I do miss about being younger is the energy!

Well for health and warm houses and reliable cars, mobile phones and the internet it has to be now!

For uncomplicated city layouts and roads, being able to park outside where you are going, not being stung with parking charges as soon as you stop anywhere, less gridlock, not needing umpteen passwords/PINS, seeing more beautiful birds, more insects and wildlife in general, and being able to pop to the doctor's and wait to be seen it has to be then. :-)
