I stopped using the beige blond hair colour a few years back after I had a reaction, my face went red and itchy as did my throat, altho that often happens when I have a bit of alcohol! I had used an old face cream I had rediscovered so I am not sure if it was the cream or the hair colour but it scared me off. I had done a test.

Now tho I am fed up with being so grey/white and am trying to pluck up courage to use the colourant again.

I think I look ok if everyone else leaves their specs off lol

I look different now, compared to when I was younger.

I gave up fighting with my mad curly hair for a start.

A few years ago, the my hair in the front started getting some "mature blonde" bits, but the back stayed dark. Ewwww! Pepe Le Pew came to mind.

Now I get my hairdresser to tint the front blonde (streaks/foils) and colour the back a few shades lighter than my usual dark colour.

I'm piebald?

I used to have dark hair almost to my waist... it took an hour to dry it with a big brush & hair-dryer........ I had no life!

I think I've gone from slick city girl to mad old country hippie :-D

Like others I don't look too closely after I put my glasses on :-D however, I did recently have my hair coloured again and it is surprising the difference it makes, to me anyway.

Loving this thread. I always approach mirror with such confidence. Bounced out of bed, sun streaming in, then.........oh dear. Deep depression till I have found the putty and injected some botox :-( :-( :-(

A lovely younger woman looks back at me every morning,...........until I put my specs on, she suddenly aquires laughter lines and slightly baggy eyes.

But I am a grandma and every line and wrinkle has been earned, by raising 4 daughters and helping out with the 5 grandchildren, so I don't mind one bit :-D

My problem is the opposite!!

I look in the mirror and see this old girl looking back at me and think Blimey Shirl you ARE looking old .

I have my hair done every 6 weeks . have a colour and a good cut an blow dry, Even then then the "girl" looking back at me in the hairdressers mirror is an old face with bags under her eyes. i quickly put my specs on to hide the bags.

Funny thing too is as a younger version I looked like dads side of the family and a dead spit of one of his sisters . this didn't amuse me cos I thought she looked like a horsey spinster!!. She wasn't she did marry .

But now when I see myself I look and at times sound like my mum.

Our eldest sister was the only one who looked liked mum and as she got older you had to do a double take as you thought it was mum even though mum had passed away in 1980.

Wonder where the dad in me has gone ?? ;-)

I had mine done too Carol, but a right mess she made of it. My dogs could have done better. I now need to wait for it to grow so that I can get it cut properly......did I leave a tip? not so likely, and each time I look in the mirror I remember to put my hat on to hide it. :-(

When I was young, I would put Blanco on my gaiters. Now each morning I put it on my face.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As long as we are not embarrassed about kissing our mirrors each morning, Carol :-D

Can it possibly be me I see in the mirror? :-S

I am feeling a bit better so decided that I would go & get my hair cut. It was not my usual person, but on seeing this haggard old lady with white/grey hair in the mirror decided that it was not yet time to let nature take it's course. Using the details on my card, from previous visits (beige), this young lad carefully applied the paste, rinsed well, gave me a lovely head massage and led me back to my chair.
:-0 my hair was not the pale colour I was used to seeing at this point.

I said nothing as I know that wet hair appears darker. When cut & dried & my glasses back on... :-D I had shed years.

I keep having to go look at it in the mirror, soft brown hair cut into a stylish graduated bob. Shame about the face... now where has my make up gone
:-D
