The Canal & Rivers Trust (formerly British Waterways) have what I call an aquamower. It's like a lawn mower, but attached to a boat. They use it to cut the reeds in the canal. I wonder if they'd be willing to rent it out... :-S

My neighbour is cutting his as I write, though how he can see what he is doing I don't know.

If it is anything like ours it will be a mudbath when he finishes. Can't see mine being fit to cut for at least another week, even if the weather stays as warm as it has been today.

Went out earlier and ordered seventeen new fence panels, to replace all the ones that got broken in the gales, ouch !! We have to wait three weeks for them though, by which time the borders will be well up and we will have to mind our feet, well He will, I can use my eyes to see where the flowers are.

Digging the patio up and re laying it and sorting out the drainage is the next job, I now know what walking on water feels like. Actually it is more like surfing without going anywhere.

My husband can hardly wait to get ours cut, but as we are the only garden with a back lawn in our terrace of 3, we are still a bit soggy from the rain that washed off theirs and into ours :-( :-(

We have a pear tree in the back garden . Its a minarette type that is designed for small spaces . It grows in an upturned umbrella type way.

We have always pruned it as per the instructions ie two buds from the last growth.

Hubby though this last two seasons to last year hasnt been able to get to it , he is too dodgy in his balance to climb a ladder. Grandson did do some cutting back in the autumn but not knowing where he cut .

Its a good cropper ,giving conference type pears.

Well it has got a bit out of hand now so I did see a tree surgeon working opposite in Dec and spoke to the guy . He came in and had a look and said no problem BUT it needs to be pruned in Jan/ Feb when its still dormant

WELL he came back 3 weeks ago . pruned the tree,removed the debris and mulched it .all for £35 which we thought was a good price .

He did say the tree really doesnt need pruning every year as fruit comes on 3 year old growth.

All in all though I will keep this 1man band in my "men that do" book

Did ours last week, a bit damp but it cut ok.,,,,,the smell of new cut grass was lovely.

Can't see my grass for snow here in Canada I'm jealous !!

The local gardener chap did next door's the other day and is probably doing others as well, whenever there is a dry spell!!

We cut ours last week, just a very high cut though.

I am the most sedentary person (like Buddha) but have just been dancing round the kitchen with the door wide open :-D :-D

Surely it must still be waterlogged . We dont have grass at the back of the house as over the years it has been landscaped with raised beds and rockeries because the garden is on an uprising slope .

We have a water feature in the top rockery that is still merrily spouting away with accumulated rain water.

The garden though is still very wet and the patio will need a good jet wash to get rid of the algae as will the concrete ramp at the top of the garden to the gate so hubby can drive his mobility scooter out safely.

Bet next doors grass. it aint a lawn sorry!, will be all muddy skids now .
