Whilst at the local (English) market today I said to OH oh get a bulb for the hall. (So many of our bulbs are different fittings and fixtures). He said may as well get 2 (as we have no spare of this type) as often when 1 goes so does another. |

Don't seem to be quality they used to be. I put three in lounge fitting the other day and that evening there was a bang. |

I had a low energy bulb pack up a few weeks ago.It was two or three years old but had done nothing like the 8,000 hours it was supposed to so I took it back to Tesco (it was their brand) and they refunded the £3.50 with no argument. |

My o.h. has been buying bulbs from a local electrical store, they are more energy efficient but daylight ones and altho expensive they do seem to last a long time. He also recently got some from Lidl or Aldi (can't remember which) at about £7 each but they are good, hope they last. |

Son, an electrical engineer who should know better, replaced several of their most used lights with the LED variety. Didn't notice any real reduction in the power account so checked with a watt-meter. Result? The savings were about the same as switching the TV and DVD player off at the wall rather than leaving them on standby. Yeah - do both and save a smidgin and do yourself an injury squeezing behind the TV to find the switch again! |

I got fed up with light bulbs that didn't last, so I contacted the company (in Oz). |
