The traits we inherited from parents

I got my (once) black hair from my dad, and brown eyes from my mum - my 3 siblings have blue eyes.
Mother was always very critical of people (especially me). Dad was totally different.
Not so much a trait, but dad always wanted his children to speak to a beggar and a king in the same manner. (ie don't judge a book by it's cover)
I'm pleased to say, he was proud of us as he believed we'd achieved this, though, as the only one of his children who has spoken to a king, he thought I spoke a bit harshly to him!! :-D

it was to King Faisal about the state of the zoo, which on the face of it looks quite good, but in reality, seems to not have changed much.

Bohartum, the very elderly lion in the picture was very aggressive. Dad realised his teeth were rotten, which was causing him a lot of pain. Dad had the (useless - he knew the processes, but was afraid of wild animals) vet remove them. After that Bohartum was fed on mince and was a lovely friendly boy - he still had his claws, but I went into his cage and stroked him - and he purred.

How did I get to talk to King Faisal?
We'd taken dad's Saluki Shamal to 'perform' with a few bitches - he'd come from Faisal, who bred Saluki's. Shamal had, whilst in the 'nursery' killed all the other male pups. As dad had already chosen him, the agreement was honoured, but he was asked not to get him neutered until he had impregnated a few females first!!
He wasn't a vicious dog - but he knew who he didn't like - and you had to be 'introduced' to him!! Fortunately he liked me and was a big softy.
He liked nothing better than sleeping on my bed. Made an excellent guard dog!

I got my ginger hair from my mother although I do not remember her with it, my big nose from my father and my rubber lips from him also, god knows where he got those from both my grandparents had very thin lips. People who never knew my father say I am the double of my mother and people who knew my father say I am the double of him

I hope I didn't get too many of my father's traits, but I got his horrible feet. :-(

I got lots from Mum...... love of cooking, wonky ticker (do they go together?).... loony sense of humour....can't stop talking........ lolol One thing I DON'T do is make comments about what the younger ones in the family are wearing... I might think they look "different" but it's none of my business.

But I got my grandmother's eyes....... Mum, dad & my brothers all have blue eyes, mine are sort of greenish/hazel.

No idea who gave me the mad curly hair.

:-D

Now that I think about it, mum had horrible feet too. No wonder mine are awful.

and the ones we wish we hadn't or had.

For myself I inherited my fathers eyes which not only I but many others have loved I also got his square jaw and dodgy eyebrows something to frown about and portly figure. I also gained his no prisoners ideal (unsure if good or not) , his trust of friends, his believe in 2nd chance, the love of old buildings and best off all his love of animals. The things I missed that I would have liked are being able to put my views into plans, being able to play the piano and have a good voice to sing.

From Mother dear I gained her buck teeth, short height and the ability to love. What I would have liked was her thick hair. her fantastic nails, and the ability to put dreams into practice.

What about you ?
