this is allied to your title Sharron, not your circumstance.......

tis a joke!......

A couple was celebrating 50 years together.

Their three kids, all very successful, agreed to a
Sunday dinner in their honour.

"Happy Anniversary Mum and Dad," gushed son number
one. 'Sorry I'm running late. I had an emergency at the hospital with a
patient, you know how it is, and I didn't have time to get you a gift."

"Not to worry," said the father. "The important
thing is that we're all together today."

Son number two arrived and announced, "You and Mum
look great, Dad. I just flew in from Los Angeles between depositions and
didn't have time to shop for you."

"It's nothing," said the father. "We're glad you
were able to come."

Just then the daughter arrived. "Hello and happy
anniversary! I'm sorry, but my boss is sending me out of town and I was
really busy packing so I didn't have time to get you anything."

After they had finished dessert, the father said,
"There's something your mother and I have wanted to tell you for a long
time.

You see, we were very poor. Despite this, we were able to send each
of you to college. Throughout the years your mother and I knew that we
loved each other very much,

but we just never found the time to get
married."

The three children gasped and all said, "You mean
we three are all b******s?"
"Yep," said the father,
"And cheap ones too."

I have recorded both programmes to watch later.

I am glad you have hold of the purse strings Sharron, makes life a little less stressful if you know what money is coming in and what's going out.

I only saw a small part of it as I was asleep in the bath.

It was interesting that, at the end, Rachael Johnson mentioned that she had now gone back to the country of the rich.

It did make me wonder what poor is.

Although I must live deep in the heartlands of the land of the poor, existing almost entirely on benefits, I don't think I am poor. I would be if it was left to the financial train crash who is my partner, but I am now the sole claimant and will not take any more action to help him sort his affairs out. Have not done so for several much less stressful years now.

I claim for him so I feed him and there are certain things he is quite attached to that he would lose painfully if I ever caught him borrowing again, as if anybody would lend to him!

Benefits are adequate to live on but not to repay loans. So, how did people come to think that life would always be easy, this is not the first recession most of us have lived through, and that they would be able to pay huge interest?

Sometimes I am happy to be a miserable, pessimistic old git!
