As previously mentioned - read the following link and follow up on the official advice

Its on FMP Saulsby

As suggested why not contact the GRO. for advice

Det, I have checked the index image and Gordon is listed as Saulsby both on his and his spouses index page (march quarter) although on spouse page it's not clear as the "U" looks more like the letter "L"

Having searched for 1973 Saulsby/Soulsby marriage refs in Northumberland, the only one which shows up is for a female SOulsby.

It could be that you have misinterpreted the 'o' for an 'a'.

Contact the place of worship or register office to get a second opinion. It might be that your copy is wrong, but the version sent to the gro is correct. You can order a replacement either from the local Register Office or from the GRO.

Do you mean on the actual certificate or the index entry? Either way this link ought to answer your question

When my wife and I were married in 1973 in Northumberland South our names were entered as SAULSBY and not as it should be SOULSBY how do I changed this ?
