Yes, it is possible if they want to be found. If you contact the adoption section of Social Services they can use an intermediary to make contact with the adopted person if he/she is a sibling or half-sibling. If they are successful - and the adopted person wishes it - they can put you in contact. I've recently helped a friend with this and his adopted half-sibling has made contact with him. They met recently and are delighted to be in touch. Private agencies will also do it but the price is extortionate. We were quoted £780.

Annie

Edit: This adoption was in 1955.

Not unless they want to be found!

Search all members trees on this site in her birth name and add her name to your own tree. It might help if the mutual parent(s) are also included as they are who she is likely to search for

Assuming you are a birth relative, or are asking on behalf of one, then add your/the relative's details to the Adoption Contact Register. Hope that she has also done the same.

Search for her birth reg on http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl and add a 'postem' leaving a throw-away email address such as @hotmail, @gmail or similar.

Good luck
