Looking at some of the reports in the media today, it appears that Soho is not the only place in London that has a claim to being the place for nightlife - the Palace of Westminster seems to have a claim as well :-D

The police are running scared because of Jimmy Saville. I think that's why we are seeing so many at the moment

We're only hearing about the high profile cases Bob, they are just a fraction of how many cases are heard daily.
As I said earlier, a lot of sexual cases are really hard to prove, because if only the accuser and accused were there when the assault took place, who's telling the truth? That can be very difficult to establish sometimes

Undoubtedly Lynda, but why have so many recently,

"Gone the 'wrong' way?"

Before a case can get to court, it has to get the o.k from the CPS. The Police interview the said victim, put the case to the CPS, then they decide if it goes to court.

Had this case got a guilty verdict, like any other case, no doubt the public would be saying what a good job the Police had done. The jury decide the outcome, nobody else.

If any of us goes to the police and say that someone has done something to us, we hope they investigate. in the Nigel Evans types of cases there are usually only two people who know what really happened, the accused and the victim. What does anyone else really know?

I've listened to 100's of victims and the accused interviews, and often have been none the wiser as to who was telling the truth. So much work is done before a case goes to court, most people haven't a clue as to what happens, and why should they, it isn't there job.

I think the Police do a great job

all comes down to who made the original complaint, then ???and why, or was it someone overheard something and reported it.........

I think the fact that the alleged compainants all said in turn that they did not consider themselves to be victims and didn't want to be in court, speaks volumes - the police wanted this prosecution and one wonders why

so basically,in any court case.

one side is honest,

and the other has committed perjury>?

Shirley, When allegations are made they have to be investigated and a decision made. With a not guilty plea someone is lying and its up to a jury to decide.

With all the celebrities who have been charged, imagine the furore if they had not been prosecuted - "one law for the rich and famous....."

It's a very difficult process. At the end of the day justice, not cost, is what matters.

Happy days

I do wonder why these allegations are being raised by the crown prosecution only to get not guillty verdicts

They must feel at the time there is a case they can make out BUT its the taxpayer who pays in the end .

Am in two minds because no way would I want someone who was abused only to find a clever defense gets off a guilty person.

Without going into details our family has been there and fortunately medical/forensic evidence was found to support it but its was still a very traumatic time for all concerned
