Incidentally, it also converts to .csv and .txt formats.

You don't absolutely need a family tree programme.

It is possible (although far from ideal) to import GEDCOM files into word processing programmes such as MS Word etc.

If you want to use something like Excel or Access (and others) to view your data rather than specific family tree software then you could convert the GEDCOM file using software like GEDxlate (free).

Hi David,

Click the Family Tree link and select Export GEDCOM. Your file will then be emailed to you.

Insert a disc/memory stick to your computer, where you will be able to copy or drag your file to.

Quite simply you cannot from here.

The only way to transfer your tree from here is via the GEDCOM system

Someone far more technically experienced will come along and explain.
