Just looking at FMP before I delete my account because of all the cock ups that have happened since according to the staff ""The site needed upgrading,we couldn't leave it like it was,we have to move into the future..

What a blasted pain in the butt this site is.

I looked at ""My Records" and what a load of pages from 2010 (nearly 5,000) to now with different surnames on it.

20 pages of Smith's,10 pages of Wright,10 pages of Cable and so many different surnames.

I found nearly 5,000 pages so thought I would get riid of them all thinking it would be easy but is it hell.

I am having to delete a page at a time and it has already taken nearly 3 days and I still have 1,000 names to get rid of.

So if your thinking of deleting FMP then I would say check it out before you delete.

As soon as the last names are deleted I will be looking at Ancestry for the info I need in future.

Been there done that Sue and most of my records were look ups for other people. I took hours, on and off to get rid of them. I will miss the newspaper section when I don't renew in April everything else and more, I can get from Ancestry

I renewed at the end of August even though I had a couple of months left....so renewed for £49.75 with the other two months added on....would have been rude not to

My account runs out 2nd November but I am deleting it Monday.

I can't be bothered even looking anymore as the site puts hundreds of names up when only a few would do especially when you put in the year of birth in.

I do not understand why you need to delete 'my record's ' they are not stored on your computer.

The reason I am clearing it all is because I don't believe in leaving the site with rubbish on it.

My subscription runs out in February and I will not be renewing it. Ancestry is by far more useful to me. I have not liked the new format since they launched it. :-|

LaGooner,

Mine runs out November and like you I don't like the new format thats why I am having a clear out and it can go back empty as it came.

The only reason I started to do a tree 4/5 years ago was because I wanted to find something out about my grandfathers ww1 /army records.

I did not find anything until a week or so after FMP changed their format..... I am so glad I didn't give up on the site. .... Yes it was annoying at first but I don't have any problems now

Another reason for going through is to see if there are any bits that you may not have considered but saved.

I did something similar to my Anestry account and found something I had saved some years ago, and was surprised as just how useful it was.

It is like going through all your old scraps of paper and finding a gem of info you had forgotten. :-D

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 14 Sep 2014 09:57

Don't even go with the scraps of paper :-0 :-0. I have a whole file of Misc and have not the faintest which members of the family they belong to :-| :-D :-D :-D :-D.

I have never saved anything directly onto FMP but have looked at the records quite often in the past.

Everything you look at on FMP gets saved to 'My Records' LG....not that they are viewable to the public like every post we make on these boards..... Would hate to trawl through every thread deleting all posts before I go
