Graham, the link shows where you work and where you live.

"Talk tidy"! (as John Edwards - the Wenglish exponent - often says.) :-)

The link doesn't tell anybody anything about me apart from my name; which I use on here anyway. :-S

I have often stood on the Somerset coast, looking across at Wales. There has been many times when it's been sunny here and looking rather stormy across the other side of the Bristol Channel. ;-)

When I was in the WRNS I was stationed at HMS Harrier, at Dale, near Haverfordwest. The camp was right on the cliff top and in the winter you could lean on the wind as it blew in off the Atlantic. About September the gate onto the cliff path was locked and the roofs were all tied down. The weather wasn't everybody's cup-of-tea, but I loved it.

After Harrier closed down it became an open prison, but that seems to have gone. I have just looked at Google Earth and the Coast Path appears to go right through the middle of the base. The Captain's House is still there - the rest seems to have been flattened!

There's a pub there where they signed the peace treaty- The Royal Oak.

It has all memorabilia in there including the treaty. But when we went there it had been closed for months :-(

Isn't it a personal choice whether or not you reveal yourself ?

It is advised to be careful, but I didn't think it was a rule :-0

I have connections to Maenclochog too! :-) :-D

The house rules of GR are that you don't divulge yr identity on the boards which with the link you gave is breached. You should remove the link from yr post and subst. something more anonymous.

I used to own a cottage in Maenclochog, Pembrokeshire and only sold it 'cos I hadn''t the cashflow to renovate it properly. Regrets. Saundersfoot is a wonderful place for a holiday - every time I go there it seems to be sunny ;-) and is imho a lot better than Tenby.

Offshore sailing in Wales is very tricky with sudden breezes from any direction and strong currents. A lot of the little islands are bird sanctuaries and access varies.

Wales failed to pay the builders for Stonehenge so it was repossessed and bought by some Druids in Durotriges (Dorset & S Wilts). The henge is now in the tender care of English Heritage so don't be surprised if it ends up in China as a down payment on Hinkley Point.

Brains Bitter was and remains terrible but there are now lots of craft breweries who have great stuff. It is really easy to find good cooking at a fair price in Wales so don't bother with self catering.

We are staying in Fishguard Jemima in a cottage with the coastal footpath just a few feet from the back garden :-D.(I need to double check that but think that is right lol )There is a gate that apparently opens out onto the path :-D It does look a beautiful area .I just hope the weather will be good .We would normally be going to Italy but decided this year to visit somewhere in GB that we have never been to before.
