We used to have. Quail loved their eggs 3 to a normal egg was my working out for cakes. Scotch eggs with them are nice and not fiddly as you would think. The quails are lovely when they hatch like little bumble bees.

I am pleased to know they have a market for those eggs because those birds don't give up production. My mother had two and we didn't know what to do with all the eggs, fourteen of the little blighters week in week out.

It is lovely being given produce isn't it? It doesn't half make you re-think what you are having for dinner this week though.

The person who gave me them Breeds quails for eggs and the meat
25 quails had been slaughtered that day
Though I did decline the meat I did nt fancy tasting them
I thought I would give the eggs a try
They must have 20 trays to go off for sale
Its a small holding sort of 5 massive allotment in one

We also come home with Beetroot Kale Chard Onions Rhubarb Dahlias Livingston daisy's and other stuff

We also tasted Red peas strange but ok to taste

They also have Rabbits geese ducks of many varieties
chickens of many breeds and grow masses of veg and flowers

I said you should never have accepted them because quails are like little egg dispensers and, if that person had thirty new laid quail eggs to get rid of today, then they will have the same every day.

You may well have let yourself in for an enormous supply of quail eggs.

If anybody wants to know what to do with quail eggs, you will be the one to ask.

Good luck!

:-S I wonder what Sharron posted?

I do know for a fact that if attempting to peel soft boiled ones, you should start with twice the number you actually need & have plans for those that break. I actually gave up & after 4 failures hard boiled the rest.

They are very popular on programmes like Masterchef. They usually soft-boil them, take the shells off and then balance them on top of whatever the rest of the dish is!! :-)

I think you may have to speak like the queen whilst eating them ;-)

Edit: If they were laid today, and there was a male around, try keeping them warm.
If they hatch, you might - just might - have enough birds for a couple of decent meals :-D
