My point is that it wouldn't really matter.

The problem is that people can copy what you've put on FB and pretend to be you.

There is nothing on my Facebook account that I wouldn't want to be public.

The worst anybody would find is a bit of gossip I might be having about you on messenger. Even that would be nothing you could sue me for.

NEVER respond to a Friend request on Face Book where you already have that person as a "Friend".

Her account has been "cloned" being friends with a cloned account could give you all sort of probs. It's easy to clone FB accounts where users security is poor.

For example if your old/current Profile and Cover pics are "Public" then anyone can use them. Ditto with your foto albums/video clips.

Your comments you place on your "Wall" should be limited to Friends only, indeed your "Wall" should be limited to "Friends" only

Also best you go to the privacy settings and make your "Friends" list only visible to you.

A hell of a lot of people on FB ain't got a clue/dont bother with security so end up paying the cost.

Hope this info of use

I've had times when my friends have said that somebody has copied all their stuff on FB and made a duplicate (but obviously fake) profile.

It's best to adjust the privacy settings so that only your friends can see your details and posts. That way nobody can copy it.

Watch out for the best scam email I have seen yet. Letter is convincing relating to £400 rebate (just coincidence but I have been waiting some months for this).

Even the attached form is very convincing.

I sent the mail to phishing @ to Inland Revenue and had a thank you back this morning.
Even warning re possible virus.

Definitely a SCAM. Any reputable Organisation would not ask for money up front.
Pay $100 and you will never hear from them again.

I got a friend request this week too and I am already friends with the person.

He has since posted to say that his acct has been cloned/hacked and not to accept .

there's your answer then Sharron. I think, as this is quite common on FB, if you get a friend request from somebody who is already a friend, best to ignore it. :-)

Absolutely it's a scam.

Easy pickings in my view - one hour's work x however many people fall for the '100 plea'. :-0

Sounds like your friend's facebook has been hacked. And definitely sounds like a scam. Are you friends with Mary Davies, she was hacked and put up a message to ignore any friends requests from her.

I would do whatever the Facebook equivalent of Junk is.

I have a few people off here as friends on Facebook. Most of them I never contact or chat to.

Lat night I had a friend request from one I thought was already my friend but I accepted it anyway.

On chat she wrote that some organization, Workers Compensation maybe, had entered our profiles into some sort of draw and she had won $15,000 I think, it was quite a substantial sum anyway. She said she had seen my name on the list and would I like he website address. I didn't really want it as it sounded suspicious.

Then she said hers had come today and she had only had to pay $100, did I want the website address.

Well, no, I don't think I do.

Is it a scam, what do you think?
