Well, I have managed to find that the Mr Pearson living at 40 Newton Street, Stockport in June of 1951 was George and his wife was Lillian.
Thank you to those of you who have helped me with this.
Now I know who my family are, it's a case of just trying to build my tree.

Cheers, I can't but try.

You'll need to track down the historical ER for the year.
Do an Internet search for Stockport Council - library resources and contact them.

There is only so much any one can do on-line. In this case someone, either yourself or a staff member (for a fee) , is going to have to look in the physical registers.

Hi Everyone,

Well, I have done a lot of searching, and the person I am looking for is either the son George Pearson or the son Clement Pearson, but trying to find out which one of them lived at 40 Newton Street, Stockport in June 1951 is proving to be quite difficult and very frustrating.
but I shan't stop until I find out which one of them it was.

This looks likely to be George's birth (same birth date as on the 1939 Register):-

First name(s) GEORGE
Last name PEARSON
Gender Male
Birth year 1892
Birth date 11 Jun 1892
Poor Law Union STOCKPORT
Father's first name George
Father's last name Pearson
Mother's first name Joyce
Mother's last name Pearson
County Cheshire
Country England
Record set Cheshire Workhouse Records (Births)
Category Birth, Marriage, Death & Parish Records
Subcategory Births & baptisms

Seems he was born in the workhouse.

This is the GRO reference if you wanted to order the birth certificate:-

First name(s) GEORGE
Last name PEARSON
Birth year 1892
Birth quarter 2
Registration month -
Mother's last name -
District STOCKPORT
County Cheshire
Country England

Same PM from Dee

Think we can all see where this is leading!
As the male seems to have been considered an 'older man', George Snr does seem to be a good contender. You really need to access the historic ER to be sure. Other possibilities could be George Jnr or Clement.

PM from Dee:-

"I don't actually know his date of birth, I guessed at it being around that time.
but I do know for sure he lived at 40 Newton Street, Stockport, Cheshire in June 1951.
He was married, but his wife passed away, when I don't know. "

Dee - if you click "add reply" which is at the top of this thread you can add replies on here so everyone can see it.

I think that is most likely that the family found in the 1939 Register posted by DetEcTive earlier is the one you are looking for. DetEcTive has posted possible deaths for the couple.

Dee, as you've accessed the PM, is there any feed back please? In what connection do you have Pearson, 1950's & 1899?

Even if your reply is ' 'Need to check yob', something back from you would be appreciated. :-)

That's what I was thinking DetEcTive.

Presumably it's George born 1892 that Dee is looking for.

How do you know that he was born in 1899 if you don't know his first name?

1939 Register - may be related to the family, possibly George's brother? It would be the right generation. EDIT 1901 lists all 3 children who survived to 1911. George is the only male

Welcome to the boards Dee.

Did he marry-in to your family? If so, using freebmd its possible to manipulate the system to find the other half of the marriage. Find the female spouse then click on the page number.
Is Pearson an alternate surname on a birth reg? Only the certificate would identify the first names if he was the father.

Failing that, you may have to track down the historical ER. They're probably at the nearest Library with a Local Studies section, or the Archive. If you aren't able to visit in person, there will probably be a charge.

Can anyone help with the name Pearson. He was born in 1899. In the 50,s he lived at 40 Newton Street, Stockport, Cheshire. Unfortunately I don't know his Christian name so I am not able to take this any further at the moment; but any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
