How does the credit thing work. I subscribed for a month but I notice the credits are kind of separate to the subscription. Do you get a certain amount per month or something?

You can purchase bundles of credits but the records you access are only visible for a limited time. Save the image to your computer.

There are a number of free sites such as
FreeBmd - BMD reg in England & Wales
Freereg2 - transcribed parish records
Familysearch - parish records, some census, & a number of other things.

You could always do a free search then ask if someone with a full sub or access to other sites to give you the details.
