Have a brand new Acer Aspire E15 Win 10. Was using Skype last night when the sound disappeared completely on all areas of the laptop.
Have tried everything to get it back with no success.
Any ideas please, bearing in mind that I am completely non tech.
Don't really want to have to take it back to the shop if there is a simple solution/

Thanks Shirley.
Yes. the icon is there, showing it is fully operative, but nothing is coming through. Have checked all the settings for the speakers etc. Nothing showing up as a problem.
Guess it will be another trip to the shop. :-|

No sound on acer aspire laptop fix [Solved/Closed]

Hello, I recently experienced no sound on my laptop and I couldn't understand why. I tried all the quick fixes I found online and nothing. I was even about to download a new driver altogether but luckily I found the problem before that... Turns out my playback options had switched which was really stupid so this is what I did. On the bottom right hand side of my tool bar I located my volume control and right clicked. When the menu popped up I clicked on the sound option and once that menu appeared I went all the way to the top where there are (3) tabs and clicked on the first one which is playback. Once there I had two options one which was digital device and speakers. Mine was on the digital output device which had it wacked so I clicked on speakers ,apply, and okay and wah la my sound was magically working again. Anyways Im not sure every body's problem is this simple but just maybe. I hope this was helpful!

Thanks again Shirley.
Unfortunately the advice is now 18 months old and doesn't work on this laptop, possibly because Win10 has had several upgrades since then.
Something seems to go missing every time there is an upgrade. Last week, the favourites toolbar disappeared and I spent a happy couple of hours trying to restore that.
Life's too short.
I just want a computer that works when I want it to.
Luckily I still have my old Win7 laptop which still works with a bit of encouragement. :-S :-S :-S

You say you have found the sound icon at the bottom right of your screen and it doesn't show it is switched off. Just click on it and see the volume level and if it is at the bottom increase it. It sounds daft, but I had that trouble once and it was just that the volume was turned right down. How it happened I don't know as it had been fine before.

Yes Annx.
Turned right up to full. That was the first thing I looked at.
Took it back to the shop this morning& explained the problem. The techo doesn´t speak much English, but appeared to understand what I was telling him.
He fiddled around for a couple of minutesthen said to me in amazement
"There´s no sound"
I suggested that he keeps the laptop for a couple of days & puts right all the things that the updates have altered. Meanwhile, I´ve got my old Win7 to be going on with.
It´s August in Spain. so Saturday ,Sunday and Monday are fiestas. Tuesday and Wednesday they will be catching up because they only work until 2pm in August.
He will ring me on Thursday. :-D :-D
