That's a problem we have with granddaughters' middle names and their pronunciation by non Welsh speaking friends:

I always hated my second name of May. So old fashioned I thought and was embarrassed when folks asked what the M stood for

But !!!!! doing my family research I discovered May is a very traditional second name in my mums maternal family Mum had it as her 4th Christian name and her mum was Jessie may

Several of mums sisters too had it as a second name . I have traced it back to the early 1800 ,s in nans family and I feel very honoured it's my second name
