We had bangers and mash for tea yesterday. I had to cook them because OH was doing a stint as Santa.

He came in while the spuds were cooking and, as I waited, I had gathered the pepper, butter, milk and that bit of cream that was left in the pot and might as well go in there as anywhere, all ready to get them mashed and served as quickly as possible.

By the time I had the spuds drained and ready to put the stuff in and get mashing the bloody lot had been tidied away!

It is so lucky for him that we don't have a fireplace anymore because Santa would be going up there even before he had come down!

You are lucky to have a husband who understands the concept of "tidying away"

I don't have a husband and he understands the concept of interfering all too well.

Mine tidies away for me when I'm cooking, whether or not I want them put away.

However, he does most of the cooking ............... and tells everyone that he always puts things away as he goes along so the kitchen never gets messy.

errrrrrrrrrrrr ......................

NO.

I have to tidy up after he's finished :-(

It works both ways.
After lunch I put the rice pudding dish in soak to loosen off the burnt on bits.
Ten minutes later it had been emptied and put in the dishwasher.
The dishwasher doesn't get inside the dish properly so I will have to wash it when it comes out, anyway.

Did you think to mention that you had left the dish to soak?

Why didn't you go round with a knife and scrape the brown bits off because they are the best bit?

How infuriating Sharron, no wonder you were a little niggled lol

Things are so difficult with my o.h. I have to write notes, eg 'leave this to soak' or 'use old loaf (labelled) for toast' etc He just doesn't take verbal instructions/conversations on board , it's a nightmare. Everything I say, it's 'write me a note'. His memory is useless, and his doctor has offered him a memory test, but he won't go!

When you say he won't go, do you mean he forgot?

Sharron

Sharron Report 21 Nov 2016 20:45

He might even have been!

No, I know all his appointments as I have to remind him. He had his tooth out yesterday, he was terrified he would die under the anaesthetic, but it went well and he has today to recover too. He had stitches which will dissolve.

Sharron, could you send your OH round to mine?
I HATE clearing up behind myself :-|

Had daughter son in law and 20 month old all the weekend - plus other daughter and her 3 (14,8 and 6) for a time on Saturday - they have dishwashers - I have me :-P
