Would there be enough to make a skirt from the material? Maybe a long one.

I am uncomfortable with the idea of going out of the house in one and I can tell you that an Asian function will not be happening in this village for a very long time. We have one or two Eastern Europeans working on the raspberry farm but, apart from that, there is no ethnic mix.

As far as I’m aware, saris aren’t ‘made’, they are a long piece of fabric wrapped & pleated around the waist. It is tucked into a Petticoat/underskirt to hold it in place. A bodice to cover the upper body is sewn in a complimentary colour.

2 female relatives where each given one by a returning expat. Neither knew what to do with them & ended giving them to a charity shop. On a personal basis, I’m uncomfortable with the idea of attempting to wear one if I wasn’t attending an Asian function or living on the Indian continent.

I don't leave the village much these days. It suits me to let the world get on with it's business without my interference so I dress almost exclusively in jeans and sweat or tee-shirts and have a lesbian haircut that can go a long time without a trim. Simplified existence.

M cleared a garage for somebody and brought me some quite large pieces of material, most of it upholstery fabric, which I am planning to use up on the peg loom.

There were also two pieces of the most beautiful sea green/blue silky material, one piece with silver embellishments.I think they might be sari fabric.

It seems such a shame for me to cut them and make something unworthy of their beauty, as I was telling somebody the other day.

She suggested I should have this material made into a sari for myself. What a good idea! Once a month we go to the social club in the next village for the quiz,I go to the village lunch and the old biddies club meeting in the pub and that doesn't start again until March.

That sari would be worn out in no time!
