David, Hitler's mother was a Catholic, and he was baptised as such but rejected Catholicism and what we think of as Chritianity,

" In his private diaries, Goebbels wrote in April 1941 that though Hitler was "a fierce opponent" of the Vatican and Christianity, "he forbids me to leave the church. For tactical reasons."

Rollo, are you seriously equating the Tory party and legislation with genocide?

FGS get a grip!

You express your hatred and disdain continually but that is absolutely outrageous

Adolf Hitler, a corporal in WWI was able to rise to Vice Chancellor.
The Chancellor apparently loathed him. When the Chancellor died
the military's leaders, Generals and Admirals, swore allegiance to Hitler.
He had total power. Unfortunately his plans for war incurred massive
internal damage, the genocide of so many Jews.
I think Hitler was a Catholic. The Pope and his clergy might have been able to
"moderate" Hitler's actions Sadly not.

Genocide is neither war nor politics.
It is mass murder allied to the base instincts of the human race enabled by fear and greed. It is a pernicious evil such that the plant will grow wherever it finds a crack and can gain sustenance. Once it has a grip, like the Japanese knotweed, it is very difficult to drive out.
The genius of the Tories is that they use bureaucracy and draconian fines rather than clubs, gas and guns. The effects are the same.

War is a continuation of politics by other means.

When the German army was beaten in 1943 at Stalingrad they had no where to go.
The Allies were advancing from Normandy..
A good time to negotiate peace you'd think.
Joseph Goebbels ranted in speeches for total war. The enemy, the Jew.
Atrocity !!

I was referring to the film of the name SOBIBOR Rose. The prisoners killed their guards one at a time then rebelled and escaped. Many were killed in the attempt, the alternative was death anyway, and many survived. A larger number than escaped from COLDITZ.

Thank you for the link.

The more recent film David, or the one in 1987 of the same name?

"The World at War' series is still being shown, that was the first television programme I watched that dealt with the Holocaust, I still remember the emotion of hearing survivors' interviews. That would be in the early 70s.

I already knew about the horror of it though, from my mum telling me of newsreels shown in the cinema at the end of the war.

75 years after the liberation of the Nazi prisoner / death camps peoples

attitudes are limited by what they see in head lines or the cinema.

Colditz prison camp for captured Officers was made into a popular

TV series. However the camps that murdered millions of Jews had

to be known through SOBIBOR depicting the inmates rebellion.
