Yes Maggie, saw this on my local tv. Apparently women are moaning because it excludes women from taking part although I think they have"minor roles" in the celebration.
Im assuming you witnessed it whilst you were there?

We (well I) went twice - once with my OH, once without.
Amazing nights had on both counts with village and church halls turned
into drinking establishments (they were allowed to stay open all night, pubs weren't!) p 'Guisers' turning up, doing a turn, having a drink, then going on to the next hall.
Then (us) staggering home at 6am! :-S
Though, when I went alone, I ended up at a lovely elderly lady's house, just down the road from the hall I was visiting that year. :-D :-D
(I did know her vaguely, though hadn't gone to the hall with her)
