5 more things to relate - try not to fall asleep.

1. I sang a duet with Daniel O’Donnell in our local church service c.1980 - that was long before he became famous. Unfortunately, I'm still awaiting my fame! Don’t tell me you’ve never heard of the Donegal fellow!

2. I helped an aged corner shop owner to hold on to a young miscreant, who was trying to do a spot of shoplifting, till the police arrived.

3. I cycled 100 sponsored miles in 8 hours with a bunch of others - proceeds went to BHF.

4. A school pal joined the Irish Garda force & was subsequently shot dead by the IRA.

5. This chap's forebears were amongst the few who, in 1879, claimed to have seen an apparition of the Blessed Virgin at Knock, Co Mayo - now a worldwide recognised Marian Shrine. Pope Francis paid a brief visit there recently. It rained!

Greetings Kay!

1. I'm told that I was born with a slight 'stiff upper lip' - but I'm not British.

2. I obtained Cilla Black's autograph outside the BBC Shepherds Bush studios - c1970s.

3. I took 3 flying lessons at Exeter Airport - c.1992. Twin-seater Cessna.

4. Two of my older brothers were involved in stock-car racing.

5. I have 4 siblings; but I'm the only one without a second Christian name. I still feel deprived! :-D

More to follow if anyone (including RTR) is even slightly interested. And I really mean that!

Hello Kay

I also live in Scotland, but further south on the banks of the Clyde. I am also in my 80's, married with a couple of sons and two granddaughters, who live down south and we haven't seen for over a year. We were hoping to spend Christmas with them, but that is looking more and more unlikely.

One thing you will notice is the abbreviations used on here. The most common is OH, which is "other half" and is used to mean any partner, be it husband, wife, or unmarried partner of any sex.

Welcome Kay

I too am in Scotland but a little further south in Edinburgh. I’m married and a stepmother of four. I also have two furry toads otherwise known as cats who answer to Meg and Mog. As others have said we’re a friendly bunch so please do join in.

Trouble with reading some of the threads that way round is that it is easier to miss some of the posts. With the huge threads it makes sense, but not with the fast moving ones.

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 21 Oct 2020 09:42

Linda, is there not a way you can turn the thread around so it appears as in a file, with the latest reply first?

I have done so accidentally several times - but don't ask me which keys I've pressed to get there.

I still prefer to read a thread as a book though -adding my response to the end of a thread.
