Err, Aging Rocker, my daughter is in Kingston London :-D
On the way down,they changed trains in Leeds She had booked assistance because of the wheelchair and for once, they actually turned up. When they got on the second train in Leeds, they found another family sitting in their booked wheelchair seats, so my daughter asked the train guard to help. The other family eventually started to move, but the guard told them to stay put and put my daughter into first class, so they had a very nice journey down.

Afternoon all

had a visit from my neighbour for a coffee as she has been away on a cruise for 3 weeks, so we needed to have a catch up.

Have now put on a roast chicken dinner for later, something I only normally eat at xmas lol but wanted to show off my cooking skills and impress new man :-D :-D :-D

Overcast day but dry here with a small breeze.

Might venture out with poochie to the beach after tea as my eye seems ok. Drops though 4x a day for 5 weeks!

I meant to sympathise about your fascia boards AG. We had them replaced with pvc in our last house, but they are the original wood ones here and they need painting. We considered having them changed to plastic, but it is a detached house with a separate double garage which would need doing as well. The wood looks to be in good condition, so we will probably just have them painted and see how it goes. That will cost quite a bit, especially as the ground slopes away at the back, so it will need scaffolding.

My daughter has arrived in Kingston, she went in the train. I don’t know how they coped as she has a very large suitcase , her back pack and Esme’s wheelchair. Her partner couldn’t go as he has gone over to the Wirral for another weekends work on his father’s house. It has to go on the market as his father has been in a care home for a long time now. The house has been emptied of all but the basic furniture, he borrowed my carpet cleaner and is going to tidy the garden as well in readiness for the estate agents photos.

His parents both had dementia when they signed up to a scheme with the RBS to take some equity out of the house. His mum told them that all they had to do was to pay the lump sum back and the rest of the money from any sale would be divided between him and his sister. Sadly she hadn’t realised that the bank was going to take a huge percentage of any future increase in the price of the house . As houses have shot up in value, it means that the bank is going to walk away with most of the money from the sale, leaving practically nothing for the family. SIL and his sister are taking part in a class action lawsuit against the bank to try and claim mis selling as both of his parents were in no state of mind to sign up to something like that. His parents would have been devastated if they had realised what they had done, but they weren’t capable of understanding

Well done on getting extra points out of them Joan. Morrisons is my nearest large supermarket and I have to go there for lots of things which Aldi don’t sell. Recently, there has been lots of gaps on the shelves, so I don’t know what is happening to their stock control.

Hello. So sorry to hear that you have a problem re dizziness Linda, it's not pleasant, I have only had it once & only because I sat up in bed far too quickly, it didn't last long thank goodness, I didn't have to have tablets for it.

It's a nice dry day here today started off on the chilly side but is now pleasantly warm.
I have been outside & almost finished the hedge ! just a few starggley bits at one side of it but the stems are rather thick & I'm not getting on too well with them.
I've had enough of them today but I "should" get them sorted tomorrow if it's a nice day, if I can't manage them then daughter will have to have a go !

I still have lots of flowers on show, the Roses & Potentillas are just lovely, the 3 new Climbing Roses are looking good with lots of new growth on them now.

The Hydranga that was white when I bought about 3 years ago is covered in flowers, only thing is it's not white but PINK !!! lol, probably something to do with the soil.

Did my usual weekly shop at Morrisons yesterday we were a bit later than usual as daughter had an appoitment at my usual shopping time.
I emailed Morrisons later in the day as I am still not able to buy Morrisons own brand of Black Pudding !

I'm told it's not available / sold in my store but I can buy it on-line!!
I had to point out that on-line orders for my area come from my local store therefore as they do not sell the one I want I still wouldn't get any !!

As a result of my email I was credited with 1000 more points.

Kingston has changed so much since I lived around there.
Are they driving - Kingston is all 20mph now.

I was never offered the Epply manoeuvre, which is a bit strange as they have an attached physio. I did find the instructions which I did myself and it didn’t seem to make any difference. So weeks of being careful.
Come to think of it my OH wasn’t offered wasn’t offered it either and that was much more recent.

It is BVVP, it is annoying because I could have had the procedure if the doctor had explained it properly, now I have to wait until the 16th Sept.. I had a really bad day yesterday, but today is a fair bit better, I still feel dizzy though. I just have to keep going as best I can. I managed to clean the bathrooms this morning, being ultra careful about turning round. I nearly fell over in the bedroom yesterday by turning too quickly and swiped all the bottles on the top of the drawers onto the floor while steadying myself.

We just took my daughter and the girls to the station this afternoon as they are going to London until Monday. Eve is visiting her best friend from when they used to live there, they are still very close even though it is four years since they moved up here. They are all staying in the friends house tonight, but then my daughter is taking Esme to stay in a Premier Inn in Kingston for the next two nights while Eve stays with her friend. Kingston is where they used to live , so they will visit some of their old haunts. Esme is very keen on Premier Inns, so she will be happy.

I’ve had the sea sick like tablets for the ear crystals problems - looked it up BVVP. I think with or without the tablets it still took a good couple of months before it went.

Going well but the sunlight still hurts a bit but it is improving.

Going to try and finish off all my new xmas cards today so thats one craft job for the xmas fayres all sorted. New candles another day.

Linda, my son last year had dizziness for a whole week and couldnt stand up but he was prescribed tablets like sea sickness and they did the trick. Have you ever tried quells etc it may just help in the interim until you get your appointment which is ages away?

It is quite autumnal here as well and last night about 8 i almost thought about putting the heating on!!!! But i didnt and its warm enough today. I actually dont like the heat anyway so this temp is good for me just now.

The garden still full of flowers, geraniums, lobelia and plenty of roses too...long may it last.

Well nothing to strenuous today but.... a basket of ironing with my name on it is calling so better get on.

Ooh Linda I sympathise, Vertigo is horrible I have only had it really badly once but that lasted three days. I was worse lying down and making sudden movements. Hope yours clears again soon. Especially if going on holiday means a flight.

I’ve had the problem with ear crystals a couple of times. It is the getting out of bed and being flung back that is so frightening. Fortunately it only happens on the first morning.

My OH keeps getting it but usually is aware before he gets up that first time. He thinks it may have something to do with the tablets he is on.

I don’t think vertigo is always the ear crystals problem.

Congratulations, Florence! It must be a relief now that both eyes are done.

Vertigo is horrible, Linda. That is a long time to wait for your appointment.
I occasionally have a short episode of it, but so far, thank goodness, it's only lasted for a few hours each time, and it's happened when I've been safely at home.
I haven't seen a doctor about it so far, as I assume that with me it's just a temporary inner ear disturbance.

Today I was given warning of a future very large expense looming!
The wooden fascia round the edge of my house roof had a a UPVC cladding added on top of it several years ago, and recently part of it was coming adrift.
It's been fixed today, but the man says the wooden fascia to which it's attached is rotting. He says it'll last another three years or so, but then the fascia will have to be replaced.
Aaaghhh! That will mean round the whole house.

This warm dry spell of weather is lovely. Not too hot - just right.
We'd better make the most of it while it lasts.
But everything's looking quite autumnal already - leaves falling - and there are loads of brambles.

My vertigo has been bad for the last couple of days, despite taking the tablets they prescribed. I felt very dizzy thus morning at Slimming World and was talking to the woman who sits next to me. She said that she had had it for quite a few years and often has the Epley procedure which they offered to me. The doctor gave me the impression that it could make me feel very dizzy for a couple of days which is why I said that I would wait until the girls were back at school, but she said that it is only for a few minutes, so I rang to book it. Unfortunately it needs a double appointment, I have to wait until Sept 16th, which is a bit of a long time and when we were hoping to go on holiday. I booked it, but will see how things go .

Good to hear the op went well.

I once took my daughter to Centre Parks, she had one of their bikes and would roar off. I couldn’t use it, every time I got on and used the oedals it would lock :-S :-S

Well I had my cataract surgery yesterday and it went ok but obviously im sore!

The sunlight is making my eye ache so im wearing sunglasses inside for a few days.

Just gently pottering around the house so nothing too energetic.

Ginnie, sorry to hear your leg is still not ok but maybe it will just take some time to heal.

Ann hope you are enjoying your break and the weather is good.

Its a lovely sunny day here and had no rain for 2 weeks now and none imminent so a mammoth round of plant watering later for someone later on!

Joan hope you have managed to sort out your hedge a bit more.

Linda glad the trip with the family is going well.

Hope everyone ok, I'm still having trouble with my leg it is a very slow process. Saw the nurse and had some dressings prescribed so hoping they will work.

I remember years ago at some holiday camps you could hire bikes to use around the sites . Good to know that there is a bike that is suitable for a wheelchair as well.

Much cooler today so more comfortable for me.

Pleased that you all had a good time Linda. Yes I guess anywhere in the Lake District is not going to be flat. Well done for mastering the trike. A few years back when in Spain, a lot of seniors were riding trikes. I have seen one in my home area. Makes sense for maybe somebody who has always enjoyed cycling but finds two wheels not practicable any more. As well as somebody like yourself with a potential balance problem.

I am in M Keynes at the moment, pretty flat here sontrikes would be good.

I have six unused Morrison’s fivers Joan. I don’t know why I don’t cash them in. Maybe I will just keep them and use them all in one go to treat myself .

We had a very good week at Center Parcs , we only had two really hot days, the others were nice and warm without being too hot. They have red squirrels on the site and I managed to see a couple which is good.
Usually we book in plenty of time, so I pay extra to get a lodge near the centre. That means that while the others hire bikes, OH and I just walk. This time as it was a last minute booking, there were only two four bedroom lodges available and they were in the outer area, so we all hired bikes. I have always ridden, but I sold my bike after the first lockdown, but it isn’t the sort of thing which you forget. The only problem was that I had a bad attack of labyrinthitis / vertigo about ten days before we went and I was still feeling off balance, so I soon realised that I would never be able to cope with the bike. I saw that they had adult trikes, so I exchanged it for one of them. At first, it was really difficult to get the thing going without veering off to one side. OH had a go and declared that it was completely unridable after he almost ended up in a bush. I didn’t want to give it back because walking long distances makes my left hip really ache. It took me a couple of days to realise that unlike a normal bike where you stand up and push off on the pedals, with the trike, you need to sit in the saddle, then put your feet in the pedals to start off. Steering it round corners wasn’t easy, but by the last day Inwas getting good at it. :-D Any way it was much better than walking

My daughter had a duo bike. That has a large wheelchair on the front for Esme and the bike attaches to it at the back. You can separate the wheelchair chair part to use inside the complex. Esme loved it, but it was very hard work for my daughter. The Whinfell site is very hilly, so I think that we will stick to Nottingham in future as that is the best of the northern sites and is relatively flat. As they used to live in London, we have also been to the three southern sites as well. I see that they are building a new one on the Scottish Borders at the moment.

Anyway , we all enjoyed it , even my son who came along as well. We went to the subtropical swimming paradise every day as Esme’s loved that and it filled in lots of time.

Afternoon all

Bright & sunny today after the fog yesterday.

Had to go to town as a stone chipped the windscreen on Wednesday but thankfully it was repairable and no need to replace the whole windscreen.

Needed a few bits plus 2 bags for 2 charity shops etc so a busy morning.

I have just tel the dentist as I need a replacement back filling so when i got through I reminded them i am getting my cataract surgery on right eye 20 Aug at 1pm.

Receptionist said" oh well you could come at 10.35 for your filling then" :-D :-D :-D

I said errrr no ty, as I will be numb, in pain and no way was I then going straight to day surgery!!!

So rearranged for 15 Sep followed by the hygienist on the 22Sep.

Did they really think i would want a big back filling replaced before my surgery???

Anyway appointments all sorted now.

Ginnie, Im supposed to get my left leg raised in the eve but the truth is, its so heavy and stone cold, i can hardly raise it more than a few inches without it hurting. Plus I cannot bend the leg either! Hope the fan helps you.

I do love Autumn. With sunny days but not too hot. Nice to work outside as well and also love the colours of the leaves, oranges and red etc.

We have a meeting to attend to tonight at 6.30 so better get the tea sorted as need to eat earlier than normal.

Morning all,
Hot again here, I have 2 fans switched on a large one that cools the whole room and a small one aimed at my leg as suggested by the nurse. Leg is quite painful this morning and I am raising as high as I can but it is the leg with the dodgy knee and having it out straight to raise the lower leg is uncomfortable as well. The heat doesn't help me at all. OH loves this weather but autumn and winter are my time of year.
