Afternoon all looking in Well washing and ironing all got done over the weekend so now up to date. However this week we are out mon, tues ,wed so already a busy week.
I was at the dentist for a filling yesterday which went ok plus the vets and then a shop at the supermarket. Today took daughter to the airport as shes away for 2 weeks. Tomorrow meeting a friend and her dad for a birthday lunch and a catch up.
Thurs tesco coming and not sure what else lol
One of the attractions we visited in jersey were the War Tunnels underground.
Very interesting reading all about the people in the war, how they made the tunnels etc plus looking at all the displays. It did send a chill through you as you walk round and can hear the sounds of war playing in the background. Quite eerie really.
Im sure there are many ghosts floating around.
We were in there for the best part of an hour and worth visiting if anyone else is thinking of visiting jersey.
Another day, we took a trip over to Guernsey. Really lovely island with small streets and lovely individual shops. had a lovely lunch in a restaurant and staff in general were all so kind and interested where we had travelled from.
We did buy lots of things and when we got to the airport coming back, my case was 2.5 kg over but strangely in Jersey and Glasgow, they let me through without paying extra.... :-D :-D :-D
We had terrible fog for 3 days but it was very warm and clammy here. 27 degrees in my lounge and kitchen but its still lingering!
Polytunnel has become a dense jungle! So many cucumbers, cauliflowers, hundreds of peas, courgettes, rhubarb and newly planted swede has grown hugely. plus 2 dozen onions. I have already frozen some carrots, courgettes and peas to use in the winter stews.
Well Better crack on.
Hope all ok with everyone
Joan, hope you are enjoying your family time with the visitors :-D

Hello everyone ,
Pleased to hear you had a good holiday Florence. Always have washing etc to do on return though and back into the routine of H/work.
Linda it sounds like you and Eve had a good shopping day. Esme sounds like she really enjoys going out to the theme park .The staff sound really good.
Joan have you been able to get out in your garden ? Your wavy hedge sounds interesting just pretend you wanted it like that, lol.
Happy day to all looking in.

I am glad that you enjoyed yourself Florence and that the weather was good.
I took Eve out to the shopping outlet yesterday. We both bought a swimsuit and a pair of trainers :-) Annoyingly after buying an expensive swimsuit the other day, when we went into the Marks outlet, they had several longer body length ones even though the normal stores don’t stock them. I bought one which is actually bigger than my normal size but as it has a higher front, it is fine and for the price I don’t mind subjecting it to the chlorine in the Centre Parcs pools. They also had lots of size 6 ones, so Eve tried some on and bought a very nice one. The Pavers shop was actually very small, but there was a large Sketchers store, so we both bought trainers from there.
Today was Esme’s birthday, apparently she has been awake since 4.20 am, but she didn’t FaceTime us until 7.20. We watched her open her mountain of presents, so it was nice to be included. We went over at a more respectable time taking all of our presents with us. The whole family went to Lightwater Valley theme park, three of her friends who also have season passes came as well. It was really unfortunate that it rained heavily all day, but we made the best of it. They had moved all of the entertainment inside, so we were able to play the games and attend the three disco sessions. They normally have a foam party at the end of the day, but that was cancelled. We did manage to go on a few rides when it was raining lightly rather than bucketing down, the trouble was that the seats were wet, so I ended up sitting in a puddle of water on one ride. The best part of the day was the presents from the entertainment staff. They all know her name because we are there all of the time and we spend all our time watching the shows. I knew that they were going to do so met special for her, but they all came together to present her with a large bag of presents. It was amazing, there must have been about £50 worth of presents in it. Apparently her favourite girl had been given money and went out shopping for her. We had made party bags for her friends, so we did party bags for all the entertainment stuff as well. I know it sounds daft, but they were really pleased with them.

Linda, my mother’s mantra was always that if you can’t see a price you can’t afford it.
I still follow that - mostly.

Good evening. Anither very warm day here, still no sign of any rain, even with a bit of a breeze I'm mafted ! I was at Morrisons this morning for my weekly shop & very glad to get home again.
I had a wee rest at lunch time but couldn't sit for long as our youngest daughter & her family are visitng tomorrow & I needed to do some dusting & hoovering, they are staying for a few days but not with me, thank goodness.
They are renting a wee cottage nearby, a place they have been to before so I won't have to do much for them, it will be lovely to see them & enjoy their company.as it's very quiet & lonely for me here now.
Joan.

Well done Ann, I had forgotten about the outlets. There is a very large pavers outlet at The McArthur Glenn designer outlet on the far side of York. I am going to take Eve on Friday and have a girly shopping day. She wants a new swimming costume, so hopefully we can find something, she is like a stick so often they are too baggy. I actually bought a new swimsuit in a lingerie shop in Knaresborough today. They had five different long body length ones in my size. It was the sort of shop which doesn’t have the prices on the goods :-( I got it down to two before I asked the prices. I can’t think why,but I decided against the one costing £220. The one I got was considerably cheaper, but when you need a proper bra top and a long body length it really limits the choice

Linda I am wondering if you have a large garden centre anywhere in your area that might have a Pavers franchise within? I know of two pavers in garden centres, one in this area and one in Ambleside so there may be others and, unlike the shops, they tend to be large outlets.

The Pavers shop is one of the ones which I will go to Andy’s mum. There is a Hotter store as well. For both of them, the stores are quite small, so they often don’t have a very big choice of the wider fittings
It is still raining here Joan, which is really good as the whole back garden in newly planted perrenials.

Linda, have you tried Pavers? They do wide fittings and are less expensive than other brands because they are a factory outlet. They are also good quality - I think so, anyway!
There is a branch in York, but have a look on line first and then if you see any that you like you could go and try them on when you go to York next week.
Good luck :-) :-)

Hi Linda, no rain for us unfortunately, it's been another very warm sunny day. I had to venture outside to water the newest Roses & re-fill the bird baths again, it doesn't take long for both the bird baths & Roses to become dry.
I am still suffering with Hay Fever so I'm not able to do anything else in the garden at the moment, I still haven't managed to straighten up the wavy hedge, it's a good job no-one but me can see it, lol.
Say hello to York for me, (my home City) it's been a long while since I was last there, 2007
Joan.

I hope that everyone has had enough water. It has been raining here for most of the day. I went into Harrogate to get the wax taken out of my ears. I only had sandals on because I thought that it was just going to rain lightly, but it was very heavy, so my sandals are soggy now. I was looking for some new trainers, but annoyingly couldn’t find any, or at least non which weren’t massively expensive. I have wide feet, so most if the fashion ones are too narrow. I was trying to find a new bathing costume as well, but I need a long length one, so couldn’t find one. Marks stock them, but only on line which is no good as I find that I can take different sizes depending on the style. I will have a day out to York next week because there are a couple of show shops there which do wider fittings.

It is really humid here as well Ann , though it is fairly cloudy and only 22 degrees. The ground was quite wet this morning, which is good for the garden as we can’t use a hosepipe
Esme does have a seasons pass Ann. It went up this year to £85, the normal entry price is £20, although they often have cheaper offers. As we go just about every week, we have already saved on the season ticket price. I don’t have to pay to go in because she has a Nimbus card with plus one in it, so it allows a carer in to all sorts of places for free. She also has a Max card which allows a free carer for places which don’t use the Nimbus scheme. In a way, I think that it is a bit odd to get in for free because the parents of normal children have to pay and a child can hardly go without a parent with them. On the other hand, it is a nice gesture to admit the parents/ grandparents of a special needs child for free as we have so much to put up with.
It is her birthday this Saturday, so the whole family are going, including my OH and my son. Last year she had her party at home and they had a bouncy castle in the garden, she invited all her class, not that there are many of them This year as her actual birthday is in the Saturday, she was adamant that she was going to Lightwater Valley. Three of her classmates are going as they also have seasons passes, it would be two expensive to invite everyone The entertainment staff who are so brilliant with her apparently have lots of surprises for her and even some presents , so it should be a brilliant day and for once, I won’t have to push her wheelchair around.

Do you have a season ticket for Lightwater valley Linda. It is good that there is somewhere that Esme can go for a treat and time out with you. She does seem to enjoy it. Good that there was shade as that sun was so hot. It was a bit (not much cooler over night here, dropped to 17 degrees but has crept back up to 19 now. Hoping it stays down in the low 20s today, but it is the hunidity that I find unpleasant, Dry heat I can cope with.

It is good to hear that you are coping Joan.
Yesterday, I took Esme to Lightwater Valley , but we didn’t go until 1.30 pm. The new summer entertainment season started yesterday, so they had three outdoor discos followed by the foam party. Of course we went to all of them. We kept in the deep shade between the discos and we drank lots of water. She only went on two rides as she is more interested in the music. I was glad to get home and in the shower, but she had a great time which is all that matters.
Today it is fairly cloudy, but still very hot and humid. There is a lovely breeze now which is better than yesterday when it was absolutely still.

Oh my, another HOT day today, & no breeze. The weather folk keep saying how Scotland will be cooler ! they obviously have no weather folk in the North East of Scotland.
I haven't been able to get outside for days as it's too hot for me & my Hayfever has been terrible, inside the house is just as bad as outside even with all the windows open & all curtains drawn. I had to venture outside this morning but just to fill up all the bird baths, I knew they would be bone dry & in this heat the wee birds need water. I was very glad to get back inside
Just hoping that my water supply doesn't wane, with no rain for some time the water table might become too low, meaning the well will lack water !
Joan.

It’s about 20 here at the moment, almost feels a little too cool on the back of the neck. Due to hit 30 later.
Tomorrow will be around 25-27 so really looking forward to Tuesday when there is a big drop.
Have felt really unwell at times in the heat. Annoyed with daughters hairdressers when she was taken unwell in the heat. They didn’t check how she was going to get home and let her walk down the hill to catch a train instead of offering to ring her a taxi. Usually I pick her up but was away at a funeral.

I've had more than enough of the heat now. It's supposed to get up to 29 degrees here today - but, thank goodness, "only" 20 degrees tomorrow, plus a little rain.
I have quite a big garden, with a lot of grass to cut, and I've managed to do it over the last couple of days - a long hot job with several pauses to rest in the shade! However, we have to make use of dry weather when we have it in this normally wet part of the country.
I hope Joan's OK, and not finding the heat too much - though it's several degrees cooler over in the east of Scotland this weekend.

Good morning. Well it is only 15 degrees at 0655 here but still feels very humid. I do like to see the sun but it is the humidity that is so unpleasant. Hopefully it will cool down this coming week.
I hope Florence is having nice weather in Jersey, the sea breezes will make it more pleasant if the temperature is the same as here I think.
