Joan ................ I'm so sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with a heart attack, but you're lucky it has been caught early!
Florence ................ good that you can get the other cataract done soon. That happened with me, and it is so much easier than having to wait months!
I was at the lawyer's this morning to sign all the papers for closing the sale of the house!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr Yoo re-assigned the contract to 2 couples, whose lawyer had sent all the necessary documents to our lawyer. It seems from questions they asked my agent that they might be thinking of renting the house out, but it doesn't matter to me! I feel as if it is past history now!
Tomorrow the 2 lawyers exchange papers and money, the cheque will be credited in my bank on Monday. My agent is meeting the other agent at the house on Saturday to hand over the keys and answer any questions.
I haven't been back to the house since I left it on August 8, but I am missing plants in the garden at the moment with spring coming .................. we had lovely patches of crocuses, lily-of-the-valley, bluebells gone wild, a huge Camellia with pink flowers striped with red, an even larger pinky red rhododendron.
But it's now the past. If only OH would now accept that we are not moving out of here to another house, or that he does not need to get a new driving license or passport. Big sigh!

It is good that they are going to do your other eye quickly Florence. It is a very nice day here, also my daughter’s birthday, so we are all going out for dinner. I looked at the menu on line ,it doesn’t look very Slimming World friendly :-( I just stayed the same weight this week which is annoying as I still need 2.5 lbs off to get back into my target range when I don’t have to pay for the classes. We are going out for brunch on Mother’s Day as my daughter had to leave mid afternoon for a five. Night stay in Barcelona for work. We will be looking after the girls all week, so eating things which I normally wouldn’t have, so I won’t be losing anything next week either :-(

Afternoon all Just back from 6 week check up post cataract surgery. All went well but he has referred me straightaway form the other eye to be done.
This time i would be put straight onto the theatre list and not have to see the surgeon first!
Joan i'm so sorry to learn that you had had a heart attack, how stressy for you to hear that but glad he's prescribed you some meds to help.Ii take Atorvastatin and yes its quite big but...What i do is eat half a biscuit then have a glass of water beside me so i can then take a big gulp to wash down the biscuit and the tablet.
Bit a pill cutter might be easier.
Raining hard here and blowing a gale as opposed to the lovely sunshine and heat my dad is getting down on the south coast!
back home now and chilling for the rest of the day.

I'm fortunate not to have to take any large pills so far, but dread the possibility. The pill cutter's a great idea.
I think I'll get one - just in case!

Joan so sorry to hear about you having a heart attack . I am on statins as well as blood pressure tablets and the statin one is big and sometimes I find it difficult to swallow. I might get one of those pill cutters that Linda mentioned.
My OH has various issues and has to take 12 tablets a day as well as his insulin injections , I moan about taking 3 a day.

Oh dear Joan, I am sorry to read about your heart attack. If you have trouble with tablets, buy a pill cutter, you can get them in chemists, or on Amazon, for three or four pounds. You can chop the tablet into half, or quarters, or tiny bits. Esme has her tablets chopped into tiny bits and they are then sprinkled onto a teaspoon of yogurt which she washes down with a drink. It is much easier than trying to swallow a large tablet and the cutter is very easy to use.
It has been a lovely day here. We got the bus to Harrogate because OH had an optician’s appointment. He needed new varifocals and a second pair of varifocals as sun glasses, so that was an expensive day out . We had a nice lunch while we were out and I bought some packets of herb and cut and come again lettuce seeds

Good afternoon, it is a nice day but not been outside. I was at the Drs yesterday a follow up from when I took ill recently, he has deemed my incident as a Heart attack & prescribed medication ! Bisoprolol, Atervastatin, & Aspirin.
I'm not the best re medication, never been one for taking tablets, & a bit concerned about the ones I've listed, the Atervastatin is "huge" & I just know I will struggle getting it down, I have to have a Chest xray an ECG & some blood tests done as well, I'm going to be busy going to & fro at the Health Centre over the next couple of weeks.
Stlll waiting for the new hoover to arrive, been told Friday so heres hoping.
Joan.

Hello all,
It is now a lovely afternoon and OH is in the garden moving things around . He has also done a new net cover for his pond after he lost some fish to a Heron. The last cover had ripped and he had not replaced it so Mr Heron took a chance and stole a meal or 2.
Joan I also need a new lightweight vac for upstairs . I have a Shark vac downstairs but it is too heavy for me to use so OH vacs downstairs
All my blood tests were normal so I can say I am normal in that aspect anyway. :-D :-D
Hope everyone else is enjoying some sunshine , I am going to see what OH is up to in the garden, will take him a cuppa as an excuse to nosey. ;-) ;-)
Take care all.

Speaking of the non-traditional names nowadays -
there was some mention on TV this morning of the new film of "Snow White", and it crossed my mind to wonder if anyone had ever actually named their child Snow White!
I went so far as to look on FreeBMD, and discovered a surprising number of Snows, a lot of Snowdrops and a few Snowflakes, between 1839 and 1994 - but no Snow Whites.
None of the above, in England/Wales (on FreeBMD), have the surname White, but one was born in Scotland about 30 years ago.
On Ancestry, many apparent Snow Whites are just mistranscriptions from newspapers, and from military and workhouse records.
Of those actually called Snow White (with White either as surname or a middle name) , most were born in America .
In the USA, some are dogs! eg - https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/239154797/snow-white-jones https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/219186119/snow-white-aguirre
Enough of this! I must do something more constructive with my time!

I have a Dyson cordless as well, I couldn’t do with having to plug it in.
It was incredibly cold yesterday , I went for a walk, but had to put my hood up and put my gloves on.
Today I did my first session of school reading. It went well, but the children all had names such as Brea, Savanna, Leila, Aurora etc. Very few normal names.
We have had very low water pressure all day because of a burst main, at least we still have water, some parts of the town don’t. I was going to do the washing this morning, but it has had to wait.

Hello to all.
Florence, yes, thankfully I can get to the funeral, he was such a lovely person, a true friend, I would have been very upset if I couldn't go. Our eldest son who lives in Morayshire is also attending.
We have a lovely day here, lovely sunshine & no wind, not been outside so not sure of the temp, not in the mood for outdoor jobs, lol.
I ordered a new vacuum cleaner the other day, I need it for the upstair rooms, I do have one already for upstairs but it's rubbish !! Poor suction & no extension tool so I have to stoop to reach the edges etc.
Hoping the new one works better, & it does have an extension tool, lol, the reviews for it are good. I purchased it from my catalogue as I was offered a £30 OFF offer, it had already been reduced in the sale & with the offer it brought the price down to £53. It looks very sturdy & corded, NOT one of those battery stick things, just don't fancy those !
Hope everyong is having a nice day.
Joan.

Afternoon all
Joan, so sorry to hear about the loss of your hubbys friend. I guess as we all reach a certain age, its inevitable that gradually we lose those closest to us. Are you able to make the funeral perhaps with your daughter?
Its blowing a gale here and pouring hard after the beautiful day we had yesterday where I was walking along a beach with fab blue skies!
Of course its bin day too lol
2 weeks until we go away to see Michael ball & Alfie Boe on the mainland. Im getting quite excited now especially as we have front row seats. How spoilt am I!
My veg are sprouting daily at an incredible rate. My rhubarb has a second shoot now and already is several inches high. Many more beetroot and carrots have appeared over the weekend and need lots of watering as the heat inside the tunnel is very warm.
Come the summer, we shall leave the doors both ends open to get the air through during the day.
I bought a blueberry plant and 6 strawberry plants on Friday so shall be interesting to see how well they do and how much fruit they produce.
Hope everyone looking in today in well and having better weather than we are!

The tv signal soon came back. The dish does point at some trees, but they are on the council land. It only happens if it is torrential rain, normal rain or high winds doesn’t disrupt it. In the previous house we used to have problems with the signal breaking up before we got rid of the dish, but here it is either on or off, non the the breaking up. It doesn’t happen very often, so it isn’t a problem

Thankyou for your kind words re our long time friend, he tried to help me keep my spirits up after losing Jack & phoned me at regular intervals to make sure I was ok, even though he had lost his wife just a few months earlier, a true friend indeed.
The rain has stopped at last, just hope the Daffies will survive it. Re the satelite signal, our signal also goes off when it rains but only if it rains at an angle ! today though the rain has been going all day it was coming straight down so the dsgnal has been ok with just a little breaking up here & there.
Joan.

I wonder if your TV signal problem is because of trees, Linda?
I had that problem last year. The satellite TV signal was fine in dry weather, but not when it rained. A TV man came to have a look, and said it was because rain droplets on a nearby tree were diffusing the signal. I had the tree felled (a huge old cypress in my garden), and there's been no problem since then.
I could just have had the top taken off the tree, but it would only have grown up again in a few years.

I am sorry to read about your friend Joan.
We are having a lazy weekend as the tribe are away. The girls other grandpa will be 101 tomorrow, so they have gone to visit him. It did mean that I had to go and feed Esme’s fish this morning. It suddenly got very dark and torrential rain started. The problem with that is that the TV loses signal. The feed is from a satellite dish, so heavy rain seems to stop the signal, hopefully it will come back on again soon.

sorry to hear about your friend Joan, this news happens more and more as we get older. And sorry you have rain over your daffs, However they may well need the rain and hopefully will pop back up again later.
It has been a calm, often sunny and warm here today and I have dome a couple of sessions in the garden, tidying up pots, sorting out the compost bin and planting up begonias and a Dahlia. It makes such a diffeence when it is warm. Yesterday it was dry and the temp was quite high, about 11 but there was a cold wind. today it is 16 degrees,

Hello to all looking in. Not a nice day here, it's raining for the first time in ages, & it's ceratainly making up for its absence, lol.
As usual the Daffies are in full bloom & are now getting the usual yearly battering, they have been putting on a lovely show this past 10 days but now are struggling to stay upright !
The Snowdrops are starting to fade after putting on a lovely show, they were lucky, lot's of sunshine for them even though it was chilly.
I managed into the garden yesterday for about 1/2 anhour, nice & sunny but cold, i managed to cut back just a couple of shrubs before I had to get back indoors.
I had some really bad news on Thursday, & former Postie & work colleague of my Jack died suddenly, a lovely man who over the past 50 yrs became a real friend to both Jack & me. He will be missed greatly.
Joan.
